Need help with city maintenence on Prince.

Actually, trade routes give commerce, so having them will not result in a positive cash flow at 100% science. Specialists, shrines, wonders, corporations, hammer conversion, and resource trades can result in this.

    Writing before Pottery

For me, pottery is mostly about granaries, which are mostly about whipping. If for some reason, I get bronze working abnormally early I will likely get pottery first and maybe whip a few axes/workers. Usually, I prefer writing because cottages are just so slow.

    Dr kossin #38

I noticed one of the diplo demerits was " A first impression is a lasting one." I have never seen this before, what does it mean?

Based on the high quality of your capital, I would wager that there is at least one AI within 15 tiles of you. Can't find the thread, but somebody proposed that strong capitals meant cramped lands. Seems true enough.

In Absence of Food and Rivers

As has already been said, your tech priority needs to be reconsidered. Another new priority is to trade for MC, since if most of you tech is hammer based, this is a 25% increase. Replaceable parts will be valuable to turn plains hills into an equivalent of grass hills with mines (windmill in...

You need more workers. Oh wait, sorry. Force of habit. Welcome!

    Teach me to whip

So, once again the uber-workshop is the best source of production possible thanks to hammer multipliers. Oh well, rushbuying still has its place. As a side note, this makes sense in a way. You would have thought more people would have noticed the otherwise insane potential of rushbuying.

    Teach me to whip

So having production buildings lowers the cost of rush buying? My newbiness is showing again it seems. Ignore the rest is you want. I am analyzing the statement of "late hammers are inefficient". Or you could skip to the bottom for the conclusion. If both gold and base hammers go through the...

    No Buildings Club

I rarely use many building anyway. The commerce cities are so slow building them, and the military cities don't need many. Lack of granaries would be annoying, but thankfully you are creative. no border pops without religion/caste would be a pain! Get ready to feel some culture pressure.

    Specialist Economy series

Ack! Your previous attempt, you had riverside workshops. What is wrong with this, you ask? Should be watermills! Same hammers, more food unless I am mistaken.

    MS` XXIII - Frederick

1W would get the resources in question, while leaving the bald tile in the cross and avoiding the predicted plains. This is likely what I will do.

    MS` XXIII - Frederick

As has been mentioned, they never lock it so you can use the trial forever. Or you could download 7-zip, which is freeware. Pretty much the same program. Anyone else thinking 1ne to get the wheat, grass hill, and open irrigation to the 2 grains?

    Bureaucracy questions

@Cerberus Religions provide gold, not commerce. Bureaucracy does not help religions. Anyway, I usually move my palace to my best commerce city, bureaucracy, academy, Oxford. Yep. Moving the palace can be a pain, but if it is possible this makes an amazing beaker output. State property...

    Specialist Economy series

I would definitely follow this series. I have for far too long been a slave to cottages, and when none can be laid I need to kill somebody who has them. When this fails... Anyway, I would love to see a series based on this. More opportunities to learn.

    Failed early rush

Played the game myself. If you block off your half of the island, which can be done with one additional city if you SIP, you will be way too busy expanding to bother fighting. I was totally peaceful until liberalism ==> steel for cannons. That is how you should war in this case. Advice for...

    War Weariness is killing me

The culture slider does not help happiness without theaters, coliseums, and if memory serves broadcast towers. If these are not laying around, build them and put science back on in the interim.

Half Full Club - Cup Two - Alexander of Native America

I had the option to select everybody in the game. Tried not to take too goof of a look at it though. And may I ask where the name came from? Half full?

Optimal city size/ best uses of production?

It is almost always better to build wealth than science because you can put that gold through beaker multipliers like libraries. Actually, no situation comes to mind where research is better. They must exist though. Building wealth for me is used when I can not afford more military. Switch the...

    3.19 AI Tech Choice Code

Interesting. You can't rely on AI getting alphabet as much if there are few other civs. This is pretty good to know! I also find it surprising that there is no parameter for what resources are laying around, much as MrDoe noted. The latter isn't so useful, but interesting.

    Favorite warfare tactics?

Capitulation is actually more complicated than that. If memory serves you need a 2x power advantage and a large amount of war success. I suppose killing their SOD could effectively yield this. My war strategies... they usually involve bribing. Get my target fighting somebody else, their SOD is...
