EUIV is built with a new version of their Clauswitz engine. The same engine they used for CKII, but slightly modified for EUIV. Furthermore, Johan himself has been working on EUIV. It's hardly made by community modders.

All I really miss from Civ IV was the way border expansion worked. I don't like having big amounts of territory that might as well be mine but aren't my color. It's a very... obsessive thing, though. Not a really valid complaint. Otherwise, I think V is better in almost every way at this point...

I certainly don't. I have a pacifist bent, so most of my games end without me putting the sword to anyone at all. Sometimes I wonder if I should find a game that's built more for peaceful builders, but the idea of America building the Pyramids is too wonderful for that.
