Do you think Civ VI is the best in the series?

Same here - Civ3 was the last "casual modder" friendly game. I added Civs, resources, all very easily. In a game with excellent entries in the series, III can get left a bit behind simply because it isn't the first, isn't the excellent CivII, isn't the fantastic Civ4:BTS... it's like being the...

Any chance for *drumroll* having three Uniques?

Perhaps different civilizations could have several UU/UA/UB but you can choose which ones you want? Some will have more than others - Rome would have a metric pantload to choose from, just by the nature of the civ, but choosing them means more variety to your play and keeps the game balanced by...

    Barbarians in Civ VI

Yep, Ci4 Barbs were best. Dangerous if unchecked, always starting cities in great spots on large maps, and soon, here come the little biremes to THWACK destroy your fishing boats DAMMIT! On huge maps I'd often finally get ocean going vessels and discover far of archipelagos TEEMING with barb...

    Changes to City States

I am wondering how the change in how cities expand will affect the concept of city-states. Will a city-state become more powerful with the districting changes and such?

    Initial Reactions

Initial reaction - here it comes. First is the screenshots. What in the Zynga hell? Is this MobileStrike or those other ridiculous mobile phone games? Civ graphically peaked with CiV, though Civ4 with blue marble was nice, but this, THIS set of screenshots is a tablet game abomination. What...

Have you stopped playing until patched?

Stopped playing? I've stopped consideration of *buying* it until I see better reviews post-patch.

    Not excited...... not one bit

Disagree. Depends on how stacks are treated. In Civ1, stacks had a huge disadvantage of being fate bound - if the defending unit in a stack lost, all was lost. I believe an xUPT system that gives collateral damage during defense combat is a solid tradeoff between stack advantage and...

    Not excited...... not one bit

Good to see some decent back and forth on possible solutions to the problems presented by the odd binary choice between infinite units per hex and one unit, both demonstrating that extremes rarely yield the best living arrangement. I'd argue strongly against having both a tactical and...

What went wrong with Civ V and what CivBE should avoid

Because contrary to your opinion, other opinions reached a different conclusion? Having played thousands of hours of Civ, mine can be included. You should be embarrassed to express such an ill-considered and closed-minded notion.

City State with a World Wonder

Anyone ever see this before? Haven't had this happen yet, a captured city state in which a World Wonder has been produced, in this case The Colossus. I planned on liberating it but I'm sure not going to give up a Wonder, and I am unsure what will actually happen - does the Wonder bonus get...

    Most poorly designed Civ?

Something needs to happen to them, they are an anachronism in gameplay - even if I ignore that Longbowmen have a range farther than a Gatling Gun - three fold mind you - that I can point blank melee them in a forest with a Legion and get at best standoff odds is a complete joke. Combat strength...

    Noob question. Annex/Puppet/Raze

To sort of zombify this thread, one thing I noticed in my current game that sort of stinks about puppets is that I cannot build religious buildings in them since they require purchasing via faith. I think THAT ought to likely change. I've been puppeting like mad but it chaps my hide to not be...

    What Civ V Got Right

And it's such an obvious answer, why the binary thinking on this topic persists is beyond rationale. There is no more aggravating immersion breaking situation in CiV than trying to move a unit across allied territory mid to late game. This is broken in concept and execution, and I brook no...

Isn't it funny when they're going to attack you.

The US trucked it pretty good in WW2. Britain also fought globally in WW2 thought to a lesser capacity. Of course, Germany ended up fighting a two front war, but that proves something of the point being made...

    02-07-2012 - Hotfix incoming

A fix that is not mentioned is the City State road quest when the road must travel along a harbor based trade route. Prior to the fix, roads to City States that connected to your trade network were not "noticed" if the link had to travel over a harbor. This has been fixed, at least in my game...

[GandK] City State Build Road Quest Bugs

I can confirm this as a bug in my current game, and I can confirm it was fixed in the patch - I had the road built forever, it never noticed it. First end of turn after patch - and the road is recognized.
