[BTS] BOTM 263: Mrs Santa Claus, Deity - First Spoiler - 1AD

I started playing this map last week-end and finally reached 1 AD after what has felt like an excrutiating voyage  I hope to find the will and energy to complete this map, because it's been forever since I've brought a game to completion and the "harder part" has been done (maybe, perhaps...

So it happens Christmas is busy business. I finally took the time to play the first 50 turns (49, actually). This is what I did so far :

    Deity Cathrine Challenge!

I have played a whole 11 turns before I found it appropriate to stop and assess. I approve of your leader and map choice :goodjob: This looks like both a very strong and open ended start. I'll do my best to play at least to 1 AD and will be interested in seeing what others would do.

[BTS] News: BOTM 263 - Celtic Elves, Deity - Starts Dec 22

Scout NW for Silver (now that would be a nice fairy light). Settling Bibracte SW is oddly attractive, as it would claim the 2nd fish on T51. Settling 2N1-2E as a spearhead is tempting as well, since it would secure at least 2 very good cities in the backyard.

Nobles' Club 343: Darius of Persia

Well, Lain's map had over 1000 land tiles and there were 6 turns for a non-animal barb unit to spawn on that particular tile before the worker would have fogbusted it, so... there you go  His chances of success probably were in the 95+% range. Had there been more tiles down below, the...

"Grow an extra size to produce a couple extra warriors Time city growth with warrior completion (prioritize hammers) Use the AI units to help clear the Barbarians Use the early units to protect spots you want to expand to." Distance. There is something to say about distance. A fortified warrior...

Nobles' Club 343: Darius of Persia

@antimony : I don't pretend to have given exhaustive advice about the early game, nor to have absolute authority in that matter but I did try to express myself in a comprehensive fashion. You, sir, give the caricature of an advice. The giveaway from your post resembles : "don't scout past T5"...

Well, you've followed through on your T0 thoughts. We've all had our oversights. I know I've had mine :mischief: I didn't find any cute timings but this is what I played (on Monday, I gather) : T37:
