    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

Yikes... I haven't even been able to access this site in days! Every time I check in, it tells me the server is too busy -- probably people flooding the civ 5 forums with comments along the lines of "(civ 5 unit equivalent to the immortal or the praetorian)s are awesome! I'll only play with...

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

These were my thoughts too. But then I ran numerous tests for myself and set myself at war with everyone. No one came to harass us. There were no barbs. The biggest issue is lack of early exploration (though the quick triple creative border expansion gives us a suprisingly good view of the...

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

Both are permenant (you're confusing the WB 'past events' diplo modifiers with the standard random event diplo modifiers (which are 'have revealed your good/bad nature to us vs. have brought/torn our people together/apart), which do wear off.

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

Yikes, these last few pages came out of nowhere...! Looks like everyone is moving in a more SE direction now. I remain a bit skeptical, especially about the late scouting warrior, but will try it out for myself. Looks like Kadazzle got pretty good results.

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

Random thoughts. Yikes! I forgot that we recieved 'You nuked us' modifiers in addition to the 'You declared war on us': That's a permenant -5 diplo modifier with everyone! If we manage to make peace, only Stalin (who we've got to kill anyway) and Gandhi will open their borders to us, and...

    Lib Strategy

I'd like to see a screenshot or two before I come to a decision here... How large / well developed are Stalin's cities? He's at pleased (not friendly) right? What kind of production do your commerce cities have? If Stalin's cities are smallish and poorly developed, and you could really get...

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

The reasons for wanting to settle NNE, as I understand them, are... 1) Wanting to have a coastal capital, for wonders, building a navy, early access to more food resources [though we would eventually get the health benefit from the clam anyway], a harbor, and a jump start on coastal...

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

You guys are thinking too fast and about too many different things for poor ol' me... :( ; I'm worried we're doing to much test save spamming and not enough listening to each other. Here is what I'm thinking now, though much of it has been said by other people at this point. I have no...

    SGOTM 12 - Phoenix Rising

Checking in... Wow! We've got a big team! Glad to see you're all already full of ideas :)! How are we going to handle turns? As far as starting locations go, the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced settling in place is the only real rational choice. The starting forests and...

    Washington (IC) Immortal Cookbook

Haven't tried it yet... admittedly, this is a difficult map... I can only imagine the diplomacy and world tech pace are thorny, however. This is exactly the kind of game that teaches you how to play on immortal, though, and I'm really glad Kossin gave it to us :). Remnicient of his own...

    Favorite leader's theme?

I like most of them... worthy of special comment perhaps are: Really impossible to beat Bach and Beethoven for the Germans The drums for Hammurabi and SB are catchy (also HC and Shaka to a lesser extent) Egypt's middle theme for the crazy flute Justinian's for evoking eastern church music...

How I won My First Deity Game (and how you can too!)

No shame in that... moving up levels is hard; this seems like a good idea! A first win on Deity is a first win on Deity. Most people posting on these forums probably couldn't even pull off this lame victory on Deity (before they get swamped by barbs, DOWed, or lose on Christianity / the AP)...

    Washington (IC) Immortal Cookbook

Thoughts: Sailing after pottery / writing was probably the ideal tech choice here. Kossin's and Dhoomstriker's comments made me remember exactly how powerful early foreign intercontinental traderoutes can be even without the GLH. No point in getting it before writing, however, because you...

    Best warmonger strategy on emperor?

If I was warmongering in the rennaisance off a 8-12 city base, I probably wouldn't cottage more than 2 of them unless the land really called for it or I was financial. Why limit it to these two? Take the best thing you can! (Military Tradition, Chemistry, RP, rifling, or even communism come...

    Washington (IC) Immortal Cookbook

So... we still need votes from Norvin Green, Drlake, Gumbolt, Lymond, and Fierabras. No one should feel outclassed here :). All of the saves were decent at worst, and the more opinions we have out there, the better off we'll be.

    Best warmonger strategy on emperor?

Uber-general (almost to the point of meaninglessness, post a save!) advice from an imm. player. 1. Not as easy to rush on Emperor. If you're going to do it, make sure the AI is pretty close by, and don't waste time building up city infrastructure, just build your chariots / axes and go...

    Washington (IC) Immortal Cookbook

Wow. 11 Submissions! Each with its own merits and demerits. How to chose between them? By asking ourselves what are the most important elements of the game given our current situation, and determining which saves address them the best. Is it more important to have a lot of cities? Is it...

    Washington (IC) Immortal Cookbook

Tried to get an imageshack account once... got a bunch of strange errors and never quite got around to going back... sorry if the thumbnail in my post was a spoiler... I also enjoyed the Dhoomstriker's narrations. Still waitin' on your save, Lymond :p.
