On the topic of overseas conquest. I played an immortal game recently where Augustus Caesar settled 2 cities on my continent, brought his army over, and declared war. It wasn't an unexpected move at the time, but he almost managed to take a city before I repulsed him.
I think this is a clear...
That's just what the lose screen says; "You have been overrun by your many foes." This applies to any victory condition though, so its possible some AI won diplo or culture or even science, but you'll get the same failure message each time.
That's not using the unit as intended though. Of course 22 strength units with a 50% bonus vs mounted will kill knights, but 3 movement mandekalu can just avoid them, and their purpose lies in taking cities, which they are exceptionally good at.
Alright, I'll give it a shot:
Regalian Confederacy
UA: + 1 movement to cavalry units, +33% combat vs city states and city state units
UU 1: Cossack
UU 2: Panzer
Build up cavalry forces early, upgrade into cossacks followed by upgrading into panzers with tons of promotions and the...
Mandekalu Cavalry 26
:sniper: Immortal 0
Foreign Legion 32 (+1)
Naresuan elephant 31
Chu-Ko-Nu 28
Samurai 31 (-2)
Janissary 35
I just don't build enough spearmen practically ever to make them worthwhile, especially since they don't get good until rifles unlike warriors, who after...
Berserker 16
Keshik 17
Zerks are overrated, Keshiks are by far the most destructive unit in the game and together with Khans and the Mongolian UA make mongolia what it is in this game.
Plenty of games are like this. Age of empires comes to mind immediately. I've always hated this happening since a lot of my friends are mac users, but it's not like this is a problem unique to CiV.
On another note, do you ever make a thread that isnt
a) a poll
b) A complaint
c) a complaint...
The only thing that really bugs me in Strategic View is the way rivers are shown. They appear in chunks from tile to tile rather than one thin connected entity and take up far too much space.
Berserker 22
Keshik 37
Khan 25
Out of these 3, the mongolian ones are far superior, since the Berserkers are dragged down by a cruddy UA compared to the boost of the Mongolian one to both these units. Out of the 2, Keshik is just too dominant and fun to use.
Any speed above normal? So, on quick?
I don't know anybody that plays on quick speed, but given that one of Songhai's strong points is extra gold in the early game and the power of their UU, it would seem that they would fare better on lower game speeds. The arabs on the other hand appear more...
Yeah, because it's not like the conquistador is also a knight with:
-No city attack penalty
-+1 extra sight
-Defensive Embarkation
The settler aspect is just the icing on the cake of this unit, which is essentially better than mandekalu in a lot of ways and is better than people typically...
Arabia 13
Babylon 21
Inca 15 (+1)
Japan 11
Siam 12
Songhai 27
Denmark 23 (-2)
The inca are indeed awesome and deserve a vote this time. The danes, however, are not, are extremely limited, highly situational, and nowhere near as good as people with viking avatars give them credit for being.
I always thought Germany should have a great people related UA, since so many world renowned artists and scientists and musicians have their roots there. Maybe something like every point of culture a city produces gives them a 1% bonus to great person point production?
Maybe even 2 percent...
Bazaar : 21
Floating Gardens: 12
Paper Maker: 18
Wat:12
Mud Pyramid Mosque: 7
Bazaar is single handedly the strongest unique ANYTHING in the game. Nothing consistently nets you so much usefulness, and it fits into practically any strategy. The others on this list can't compare in the...
