    French presidential election 2017

That was more or less what most French leaders said until Jacques Chirac in 1995. It originated from De Gaulle, who was back then probably more concerned about reuniting and reconciling the country after the war rather than historic and factual truth. More than 70 years later, there shouldn't be...

    French presidential election 2017

Or not. All things considered, previous terrorist attacks didn't factor that much in following elections in France, far much less than discontent aimed at the then-current government. I think this attack main impact will prove to be the disruption that ensued in the TV broadcast featuring all...

    Civ Memory Optimization

As this program only deals with the memory, I don't see how it could damage the game installation. But if you find yourself in some kind of strange state during the game because this minimem somehow damaged your program instance, don't look further. So, yes, it could cause gameplay troubles...

Apprendre le Francais: Best Way to Go About Learning French

Unfortunately, there isn't much French series that have crossed the Atlantic as far as I know. The contrary is very common. Anyway, I've heard about Engrenages/Spiral which is about the life in the judicial system. It seems to be the rare one that is now on Netflix and broadcast on the BBC...

Question: Could be the USA be disintegrated?

They were in what became US far longer than the current US population and have been totally outnumbered. They won't be able to break the US in small, warring pieces, even if they hated each other like Greeks and Turks, the various Balkan or Caucasian ethnicities...

Can a American Republican ever be elected president of the USA again?

The 10 seconds it took Lyndon Johnson to sign the Civil Rights Act? Funny how the RealClearPolitics electoral maps shows this by telling Texas is "likely Romney". You don't take into account the fact that there isn't much to love or like about Romney or Ryan. I think I've read in the NYTimes...

Installing on a new hard drive

Indeed, most games doesn't profit much from the SSD as it seems most of the loading workload has to be done by the CPU and RAM. I have Civ V on my SSD and it still takes a few minutes to load the game then a particular save. At least, it doesn't make much noise this way.

Installing on a new hard drive

You have to put the OS on the SSD. That's the whole point of SSD: cutting access times by two orders of magnitude while access times are the time you are waiting for the OS to load itself and be usable. It does make a difference and overall, you feel like your computer had actually been built in...

CiV G&K and the Steam Overlay

Did you checked it hasn't been disabled in the game properties in Steam?

Installing on a new hard drive

You can copy paste the entire Steam directory at will for that matter. Just update a bit the shorcuts if needed.

Installing on a new hard drive

The previously linked thread had it right. Use Steam Mover. If you absolutely want to have Civ V on a conventional HDD, you'll gave to move some things around. Maybe you can try to begin download the game, stop Steam, move it with Steam Mover or perform the same actions manually and then restart...

    Buying a City?

I think that's because the plainly don't want to. Ask yourself when and which of your cities you would sell? Even the crappy ones made by the AI can be of value for their ability to act as a buffer in case of invasion. I've sold a city only once and that was more for strategic consideration...

    European Federation

European Union is not a Civ, not yet, in the real world. It just covers too much distinct countries, much of them who are already full-fledged civilizations in Civ. As far as I know more than half of them are based on some European nation. So for now, I quite don't see the point :-).

Why is my CPU activity affected in this way?

It's a 32 bit executable and it's therefore unable to allocate more than 2 Gb of RAM. And usually, I don't see many games using much more than 1 Gb modulo 20%. I don't know what is so wrong with a game using CPU even when you don't feel it's doing many significant things. Look at any other game...

    Thoughts on building navies?

Advice for the late game: beeline to submarines. Once you've cleared enemy fleets use battleships and plane carriers to take city without losing a single unit.

CIV 5 G+K - How stop the AI constantly going to war with you?

The latin expression si vis pacem, para bellum is quite true in Civilization V. You won't go anywhere without a decent army, if only because other civs will see that as a weakness to exploit, which they have done. So you have to build an army. If you're aiming for a scientific victory, use...

So i just bought this game

In my opinion, the expansion is really that: an expansion. It adds new Civilization, two new gameplay mechanics who don't revolutionize the game, a few units. If you like the game, buying it is a no-brainer. Civilization are quite complex games, so I guess there isn't anything like playing it...

    Consensus on AI in Civ5

I don't know if there is an actual consensus about how the AI is performing in Civ V. From the few games I've played so far, it doesn't seem to be actually able to move its units with all the optimizations and overall wittiness of a normally constituted human. But that's assuming the said human...

How will you feel if Obama wins a second term?

Indeed, from my understanding, the congress who almost bankrupted the US one year ago did have a far more important impact on it.
