    Celeron processor possible?

I've run small maps, 600 Mhz Celeron, 320 megs RAM, Win2k, 128 MB video card, somewhat slowly, but playable. If he's Windows XP, you would probably want to consider going up to a 1 Gig of RAM, as it is more of a memory hog than Win2k.

Positive Thread for people on Minimum Specs

Heck, I've been playing it on a 600 Mhz Celeron, 320 megs RAM, Win2K, a 128 Mb video card. I'm in the modern age on a small map, and haven't had too much trouble with lagging. Maybe I'll try a normal sized map and see how that goes, too, although I suspect that'll be too slow.

The absence of religion for civs that were long isolated

Exactly. That's why I'm suggesting some sort of default or some sort of emergent one that would develop in an unlucky and isolated civ. Probably by the end of the Ancient Age at the latest, some sort of organized rituals would have developed by then surrounding death and the largely unknown...

The absence of religion for civs that were long isolated

But after some period of time, there would have been some organization, it's inevitable, just like politics.

The absence of religion for civs that were long isolated

I've been playing Civ4 for a few days now, and in my current game, I found something which should be addressed, hopefully by Firaxis. It wasn't until the 1700s that my Arab civ crossed the ocean and found an AI civ which had been all alone on its own continent. During the centuries prior, the...

Anyone playing on a fairly low spec PC ?

Yeah, he could probably get a GeForce with 128 megs for around 50-60 dollars, and he'd be in much better shape. The graphics are fairly intensive for Civ4. Don't know how much money he would want to splurge, as he's getting near the cusp of where a new computer could be desirable.

my sip of civ4 with a under-requirement machine

You should probably be able to go to Add/Remove programs, and uninstalling the video drivers there, if you get a new video card. After uninstalling those drivers, it'll ask you to restart. Cancel that so you can select shut down and turn off computer. Follow the instructions given to you by...

my sip of civ4 with a under-requirement machine

XP might be a problem as well. I'm running on Win2K.

my sip of civ4 with a under-requirement machine

I think the video card is killing you badly too. I got Civ4 up and running last night on a 600 Mhz Celeron(!), 320 megs of RAM, but 128 megs of video RAM. I was able to run a small map at 1024X768 and lowest detail without too much trouble, although you have to be patient at times.

Anyone playing on a fairly low spec PC ?

I got it playing last night on a 600 Mhz Celeron that has 320 megs of RAM. I loaded up a small map, and playing it up to 1000 AD thus far. So yeah, I'm running it at bare minimum levels, but it's running.

Very hard to expand in this game!

I'm basically reading through Civfanatics to get my information about the game, but if this behavior is true, it sounds much like the old AI knows where the hidden resources are.

Are you a Christian, Atheist or other religion?

If all men did not fall short of the glory of god, why Jesus then? Original sin seems to be a very necessary concept in some form among the various sects of Christianity in existence. They frequently disagree in various forms about how the original sin is to be made up for, Catholics v...

    Define life

Well, fire releases energy, but in its most familiar form, it is atoms of carbon combining with atoms of oxygen to produce that energy. Fire is not simply energy, it has a rather physical presence that quickly disperses in the process. The point that the threadstarter may have wished to...

    Define life

I've seen this idea talked about here. It may well be correct to state that non-life to life exists along a spectrum and there is no real clear dividing line between the two ends.

Have you ever picked up radio stations with your fillings?

I used to think it was radio, but it turned out to be God Himself TALKING DIRECTLY TO ME. I wish God weren't such a Barry Manilow fan though. :(

It used to hurt a lot for me to chew tinfoil too, but when I stopped mixing in the broken glass, it got much better.
