Still Newbie - DLC on steam?

When you buy the DLC via the Steam Store, it will be downloaded automatically and transparently, if you have the game installed.

Observations on a post-patch game (king)

Speaking of the new natural wonders, how you feel about The Fountain of Youth and El Dorado? Given their fictitious nature, and concerns over the randomness of their occurrence, they are disabled via the XML, at the moment. To hear someone say how awesome they are surprises me. What has your...

    Two new civ's are live

I can confirm that the DLC is available. I've received my key, and I've already downloaded the update of about 150 MB.

    It's not for Steam yet!

I'd imagine, Aspyr will make more money from the initial sales of the Mac version of ciV, thanks to impatient buyers. It will make a good chunk of its money from people that will be willing to buy the game for a second time, essentially, to get a Mac-only version. But I'm not going to pretend...

    It's not for Steam yet!

You're right: If you bought the Civ4 Complete Edition from a retail store, the Mac version would be a separate purchase, because Steamworks isn't used universally. I didn't pay close enough attention to what I was typing. But ciV is different. In the case of ciV, Steamworks is used universally...

    It's not for Steam yet!

At the moment, the games that make up the Civilization IV Complete Edition can be downloaded for both the PC and the Mac. To install the Mac version of Civ 4, the Mac version of the Steam client needs to be used. As for ciV, the imminent release of the Mac version by Aspyr may be a separate...

    It's not for Steam yet!

No, you won't. Steamworks is Steamworks, regardless if you bought the game at a retail store, or via Steam. And thank you for providing clarification in your earlier post.

    It's not for Steam yet!

Whenever the Mac version of ciV is available via Steam, it'll be free; however, the Aspyr release may be a separate purchase, initially, for the impatient.

    Should I but Civ 4?

I'd expect the bundle to be offered again for the price of $10 again next month, during the annual Christmas sale. I'd wait until then to pick it up.

    HELP! Upgrade Units - How???

Warriors can be upgraded up to infantry, catapults can be upgraded up to rocket artillery, but calvary isn't upgradeable to tanks and such, right? I haven't quite memorized the upgrade paths yet.

Brief Analysis of Sales Data between Civ Rev and it possible impact on Civ V

I agree. Paradox caters to a specific niche in the market, and the games don't appeal to everyone; however, there are people, like me, that love the immersion and (micro)management. At the end of the day, we can hope for the best with ciV, but we will always have BtS, which I still have to master.

Most & least favorite RUIN bonus?

Getting a free settler may only be possible at lower difficulties. I played through a Settler game last night to unlock several achievements I had been missing, and I had never gotten a free settler before.

    AI Warmonges - Funbreaking

ciV could learn some lessons from both the Total War and Europa Universalis series. I hope the game continues to improve.

    I LOVE this game!

I don't know. Having two rush-bought Babylonian GDRs in the 1930s can be fun, in a completely unchallenging sort of way. I play on Prince, or above, usually. I played through a Settler game last night, just to unlock some of the achievements I had been missing.

Just missing Cultural Victory w/ France

I'd also suggest that you unlock Mandate of Heaven from the Piety tree as soon as possible.

    Quick Question from a beginner

I can add that you'll need to make sure you've researched Optics, in order to embark units.

Noob help - Help using Great Scientists and Production Speed

The reason why you have been having such difficulty is because it is impossible to occupy a city with ranged units. You can continue doing what you've been doing with ranged units, but they can only supplement what melee units -- a warrior, spearman, or swordsman -- can finish.

CIV 5 the worst letdown in PC gaming, ever.

As much as the AI needs improvement, I do enjoy ciV, because I enjoy games that require some exercise of thought -- as opposed to FPS games, generally. I'd rather be frustrated by less-than-stellar AI in ciV than be frustrated by having homophobic slurs thrown at me because I physically don't...

    UknowsI's beginner's guide to Civ 5

I think you misunderstood what I said. By filling one of, or both of, the specialist slots associated with the buildings I mentioned, citizens become either artists, engineers, or merchants. There is a difference between individual artists and a Great Artist, for example. Furthermore, by having...
