I agree. Paradox caters to a specific niche in the market, and the games don't appeal to everyone; however, there are people, like me, that love the immersion and (micro)management. At the end of the day, we can hope for the best with ciV, but we will always have BtS, which I still have to master.

I'd also suggest that you unlock Mandate of Heaven from the Piety tree as soon as possible.

The reason why you have been having such difficulty is because it is impossible to occupy a city with ranged units. You can continue doing what you've been doing with ranged units, but they can only supplement what melee units -- a warrior, spearman, or swordsman -- can finish.

As much as the AI needs improvement, I do enjoy ciV, because I enjoy games that require some exercise of thought -- as opposed to FPS games, generally. I'd rather be frustrated by less-than-stellar AI in ciV than be frustrated by having homophobic slurs thrown at me because I physically don't...
