That's true. Winning, especially via domination, seems a little anti-climactic. You take over that last capital and boom, one picture. no replay, no score screen, no power/culture/ score meters. Those would be nice to have again.

Perhaps it was because I was young.
While I do think it was a fun side thing, I would much prefer them working on gameplay features that actually matter, so I guess I'm not really that sad.
Ah yes. Most of my civ 2 experience was in Civ2: Test of Time. Slightly better graphics/unit models than civ2, so that would be why my hazy memory remembered some semblance of a rendered room.
I suppose that the palace/throne room concept is something that has been lost from the franchise...
I know it really served no purpose, but I kind of miss the people loving me so much that they offer to add on to my palace and make it all awesome. I am a little sad that it has disappeared from the last few Civilization games. :sad:
After you research optics you have to move any of your units into your cultural boundaries and they will gain "embark". Other than that you can get it like any over upgrade whenever your unit levels.
Yeah, having colossus expire does suck, but I think it is quite helpful for getting your economy rolling in the early stages. Especially since Civ 5 production levels seem to be much lower.
Perhaps I'm justa bad Civ'er, but I've felt the same way. things seem to be very slow producing. I feel as though I'm behind all the time. (even when I'm not)
I read a post in the 2k forums yesterday that they would be releasing a patch with hot seat capability, for free, in the coming weeks (*read "months").
