Game: Civ5 GOTM 41 Date submitted: 2012-08-03 Reference number: 26780 Game status: Culture Victory Game date: 1904AD Turns played: 324 Base score: 1090 Final score: 1703 Time played: 3:46:00 My first ever GOTM. :) Was a good game. I don't think I've tried to win a cultural victory in...

    Diplomacy tutorial

Thanks for nice comments, and love the discussion taking part here. I've never said that diplomacy is perfect in Civ 5. I am far from completely satisfied by it. Diplomacy has always been bad in Civ, but the whining in these forums is always about how bad Civ 5's diplomacy is compared to...

Do civilizations know how to expand anymore?

Which difficulty level do you play on? In my first game on Immortal post patch, Greece had 5 cities before my beelined NC was finished, and there was no more land left for me.... I also didn't notice any difference from pre patch in my Emperor game. I don't think I've ever seen a Civ not expand...

"Must promote before end of turn" WTF???

Saving up promotions is ridiculous, but it's still allowed if someone wants to be hand held, and yet people complain? Not having to use promotions at once is like reading a book and then 500 years later deciding if you want to remember chapter 1 or 2 because you need one specific for a test.

right... no more peaceful games... ever.

Shameless thread promotion :P : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=419650 Unless you mean Deity difficulty, but if you seriously mean that it was easier and more effective to win a peaceful deity victory in Civ 4, well.... then I don't believe you.

    Diplomacy tutorial

Shortly later I meet the two last civs, India and America. India is neutral and America is friendly. Arabia is in a war against both of them. Good thing I did not accept the DoF. I want to trade with them all as long as I can. Spain then contact me and want a DoF. The circle has completed, I...

    Diplomacy tutorial

Apparently a lot of people have problems with the diplomacy in Civ 5, and I don't think there's a thread in the Civ 5 forums where someone doesn't complain about how bad, hopeless and broken it is. This is of course nonsense. I also think it's strange to hear such claims when you think about...

    Haven't played in 4 months.

Since you appararently don't understand diplomacy in Civ 5, since it's easy to stay on good terms with the AI, maybe "simple, bland and empty" is too advanced for the Civ 5 haters? It's way more advanced (although it still isn't good enough IMO) than any other Civ game (especially the...

Gave Civ V yet another try...it's still not doing it for me

Thanks for making a new thread about this. Your unique opinion is interesting, but I don't agree with what you wrote.

What of we didn't buy the DLC?

Dragon Age 2 had 15 different DLC available at release date and here people are whining about a civ or two every now and then for 3,5 euro..... It's the end of the world! :P Seriously, what makes anyone think Civilzation players are more holy than anyone else? People obviously buys them and...

My Guess: DLC Will Evolve into Monthly Subscription to Play Civ 6; Licensed Mods

Haha, is this forum for real sometimes? Nothing the in the original post makes any sense whatsoever. People have to step outside their Civ 4 bubble sometimes. Monthly subscription is a dying feature even in MMORPGs. There is no chance that any single player game can ever justify a monthly...

Civilization 5 Game Of The Year Edition

Do people even play computer games, or was the last game they bought Civ4? Everyone releases GOTY-versions of their games these days. It's just a way to cash in a little extra. It means nothing more, nothing less. I really can't see any reason for outrages against this. Actually it's quite...

Declaration of Friendship - any value to the player?

I agree with this. Before the patch, DoF worked very well, but now it seems every civ totally forget that we were friends 1 turn ago.

    New tile yields and production

That would be slow even pre-patch. I almost think city production is a bit too high now.

Is this game worth playing again yet?

Depends... I think there are two things you have to concider. Do you like to be handheld with +- modifiers, science slider and slavery to make up for poor tactics, then stick with Civ 4. If you want to think a little bit more, Civ 5, unless you tend to blame the game when you can't figure...

    # cities, &, avoiding war?

It's easy to avoid wars, but you have to be careful with who you sign Declaration of Friendship with. Don't sign them at any price. Figure out the world diplomacy first. You don't need any soldiers as long as you aren't number 1 in the score table, which you shouldn't be with only a handful of...

    Reviews of Civilization 5

The people who hates civ 5, coming to this forum every day to tell everyone how shallow it is, how broken it is, and how awesome civ 4 is in comparion on the other hand: Those are the experts! Isn't that human nature? Everyone who agrees with yourself are experts, the rest have no idea what...

Refined Poll: your standing with the game

Or maybe many of the so called hard core players can't figure out the depth making them the noobs? Waiting times between turns aren't any different than a computer in 2005 used for Civ 4. If you can't manage to get production out of your cities, I guess you kind of prove the point. Games takes...

    Denouncing: Like -or- Don't Like

In Civ 4, Germany would have taken over Europe because England and Germany both had Hinduism as religion, keeping them at friendly status no matter what Hitler would have done. Talk about owning. If you are denounced by your friends, then you clearly need to learn how diplomacy works. The...
