Civilization VII - Features at launch: speculation and discussion

To continue on the topic of builder tedium in the post above: I'd like them to get rid of builders altogether. If you want to improve/harvest a tile, to be optimal you need to plan ahead when and where to build how many builders, taking into account a potential policy cards reshuffle and maybe...

    Civilization VII Wishlist

Bring back slavery, genocide and other dark parts of history. In Civ 3 your citizens had an ethnicity; in a conquered city other ethnicities would often create happiness and related issues. A solution would be to produce settlers or workers to move ethnicities around (forced relocation) or...

    #1 complaint

The UI should show the previous destination and tentative path of the unit, so when this happens you can see where it was going. Also all destinations from current unit orders should be highlighted so you don't just redirect the unit into a new position conflict. How hard can it be? Bugged me in...

    New Districts

I don't find slums offensive, though I'd think they are not created through government initiative. It could also be an economy card? Provide those poor with (unfair) work. National wonders, or one copy districts, could work. The palace could be moved to one and be extended like in civ1 :). Even...

    New Districts

As the novelty of the current districts is wearing thin, what do you think some new ones could be? All yields and great persons are accounted for so new ones will likely have to be coupled to new concepts, I'll vaguely hint at some. Numbers may not be balanced and included mostly for the gist of...

    Quote Supplementation/Replacement interest?

Well it won't save the game but I'd feel less dirty after playing it :). I had hoped someone would do a "best of previous editions' quotes" mod, which could additionally add some nostalgia. This sounds good too.

    Anyone else quit playing?

    I have lost hope.

    New patch 20 December

Hardly the most important point right now, but I hate these kind of natural wonder effects: It just encourages more pointless micro.

    Make All Resources Harvestable

Yes, yes, yes :). This allowed me to build the Ruhr Valley on a a perfect tile, formerly ruined by a luxury of which I had pleny of copies.

    Smoother Difficulty

Great! I always hate having to play the catch up game from the start.

AI doesn't want me spreading his own religion

To be on the safe side preventing religious loss as Kongo, I spread the AI's own religion back to his holy city, which got converted. No "thank you", instead I got a "Your proselytizers are not welcome". Surely the AI should be happy in this case?

Melee slinger kills do not trigger archery Eureka

Yes, barbarians suiciding themselves is pretty anoying for these "Kill a unit with X" eurekas. It is the same for killing a unit with a spearman: doesn't trigger when the spearman is defending.

    Dutch translation CIV VI

It is in Flanders too ;). We don't dub media either.

Can still win the game after losing

I lost to an AI's religious victory, got the defeat screen, then clicked "one more turn...." and kept on playing, trying to get the tourism goal for a cultural victory. To my surprise I was actually awarded the victory upon reaching that point, even getting achievements for it.

Housing: a poor man's health system?

Well, there's no way to fit many people on a small surface without good sewage disposal. As for hospitals as a district: they can get pretty huge, which was my main line of reasoning. It could get buildings like a maternity and radiology unit.

Housing: a poor man's health system?

I agree about its abstraction but in fact to me that does make it a broadly appliable concept. I wouldn't mind hospitals providing housing, it's better than hospitals providing food in civ5 at least. I'd like to see a hospital district, but alas the neighbourhood makes housing as its main effect...

    Specialist Policies

Yeah specialists don't have much of a point now, which is really a step back. Great people seem to appear "automatically" now. I like your idea how policies would give them various purposes. Just a random thought: in civ3 we had medics and entertainers among possible specialists. The latter...

Mod for more units per tile.

Corps are effectively a stack of 3. Allowing different types to stack changes the entire concept of tactical combat they have now. I would be OK with "true" stacking if, as TehJumpingJawa suggests, there is attrition. In reality diseases would kill more troops than actual combat starting from...

    Musical Changes

The music in general gets repetitive fast for me. I'd like the civ4 historical music back please.

    Idea to improve coastal cities

Yes and that's a pity. Maybe add a major adjacency bonus for the harbor district when next to the city centre and a "Wharves" building for coastal cities: built in city centre and adds to trade route yields. Hmm I may feel my first civ6 mod coming up...
