    Don't Waste Worker Turns

Oh I was talking about the CiV discussion from the road necro but yeah, in civ4 that goes into the general unit maintenance. It's just that maintenance is calculated differently and in more detail in civ IV with the home/away and military etc. In 5 iirc it was just a flat 1 per unit.

    Don't Waste Worker Turns

Each unit had a cost of 1gpt iirc, so your Great People would cost gold to sit in your capital doing nothing while you hoard scientists until you get your labs up to bulb through atomic in one turn. The exception to this was I think the oligarchy social policy in tradition? Either way, this...

[BTS] Nobles' Club 188 - Genghis Khan of Mongolia

Going to play on Emperor again. I find it a nice balance that is comfortably difficult. Standard NHNE as always. T0 thoughts. Moved scout 1SE to see more of the southern coastline since it looks like we're on the western end of an island. I like a good chance to settle on dry corn as lymond...

    Barbarian camp

I thought huts were great when I'd pop BW, with my highlight in a MP game leaving a hut in the tundra north on an island to pop a medieval tech like some nomadic bulbing strategy. Then I popped 3 warriors, killing my warrior and second city settler, and have never had them on since. Still, not...

The sad state of civ4 play outside of these forums

In fairness people play games for a variety of reasons. Took me a long time to realise this after playing lots of games with a competitive edge. I had a friend for example who would play on Warlord or Settler difficulty exclusively because they wanted to build all the wonders and create huge...

    [BTS] Random (Sitting) Bull game

Hax0r Darius from TMIT (make more videos pls!!!) is my favourite example of getting screwed over at rediculous odds to come back and crush RNG.

Nobles' Club 187 - Elizabeth of the English Empire

I do now feel I was trying to rationalise a decision I made, which ultimately just boiled down to instinct and faith. Thanks for explaining the error in thinking. @Pangaea The land is so poor for expansion, the forests are better used on chariots than settlers in this instance. As everyone...

Nobles' Club 187 - Elizabeth of the English Empire

Well as we know, there is always at least one 'food' source in the initial spawn BFC, so we can reverse engineer where it might be. As pointed out, there is 2 flat grassland tiles 2E and 2W of the PH 1S of the settler. Since there is forest surrounding all other tiles, I think it's a safe bet at...

Nobles' Club 186 - Cyrus of Persia

@SittinDown. [/SPOILER] Summary to T100: With a warrior in Mutal, scouted towards Lakamha and sighted a Holkan. Made peace with Pacal and sent the surviving immortals in pairs to scout the fog and explore the other AIs lands. Catherine and Sitting Bull's capitals are highly desirable. No OB...

    NC 184 - Roosevelt

It's truly a testament to the legacy and longevity of Civ4, and perhaps for some, that of the Strategy and Tips community here. The first NC I posted in was NC LXXII Ragnar and that brings back memories. That was the second cycle too! Warrior 1W and Settler 2W and perhaps settle on one of the...

    I loved Civ 4, will I like Civ 5?

Going to disagree on this in the broad sense, although it's largely personal preference. Of course, if you value the principle of having the option to enable random events for extra immersion, that's perfectly okay. If you play somewhat seriously or on the higher difficulties, random events (and...
