    Great Person/Spy name list?

I've noticed that there is a pretty big pool of names that great people are drawn from, and it'd be cool to see just how much representation the list has. I also like how each civ gets unique spy names. But for all my efforts, none of these names seem to be around on the internet, and I can't...

Choosing Harald Bluetooth as a Danish leader=******ed

I don't know about Harald specifically, but Christian IV is popularly depicted as a very similar character in Danish culture; a spirited, boastful warlord. Ironically, he was a much better administrator than general, but he loved nothing more than wailing on some goths. Is it Djenne? I've...

Why the hell isn't Shaka Zulu in this

The Zulu are a pretty poor civilization from any point of view other than being a fan favorite. Give us South Africa instead, since they're an actual civilization. Hell, you could probably give them an Impi UU or Zulu-appropriate UA, to represent the pre-colonial region, and then still have a...

Choosing Harald Bluetooth as a Danish leader=******ed

Knut is a German name, though. The Danish version is Knud and the English version is Canute.

Choosing Harald Bluetooth as a Danish leader=******ed

Really? Which leaders are you thinking about? I would honestly say that Civ V is extremely tasteful as far as video games go. Theodora and Catherine are both pretty bad, but at least their depiction is actually historically accurate, as opposed to Catherine's usual portrayal. The others are...

Choosing Harald Bluetooth as a Danish leader=******ed

I meant as opposed to a "Scandinavia" or "Vikings" civ. I'm sure we'll see even more nordic civs eventually. Denmark's ruled areas in all those places (bar Finland), as well as Norway/Greenland/Iceland/England. Sweden was certainly bigger and more influential for quite a long period, but...

    New Leaders Spreadsheet

When you start a game, each score for each leader is modified by a random value from -2 to 2. For example, Gustavus Adolphus has a Friendly bias of 6 and a Deceptive bias of 3, but this could mean that he turns out to be Friendly 4 and Deceptive 5 in one game, and Friendly 8 and Deceptive 1 in...

List of Civilizations civs and leaders

Actually, the Montezuma in V is a different person from every other civ's Montezuma.

Choosing Harald Bluetooth as a Danish leader=******ed

If they want to use a viking Denmark, Harald is the obvious choice. Anyone who reigned after him was king of a Christianized Denmark, and vikings without Norse mythology would just be weird. He was also the first king to rule over a unified Denmark, so earlier kings are also weaker choices. For...

    Civ's features through maps

Iceland is basically in the same boat as Norway; both were part of the nation of Denmark-Norway, but Iceland achieved its independence decades later than Norway did. Greenland is pretty much an autonomous nation as well, but it is still an official part of Denmark. If an Inuit civ is ever...

    9th Civ: It's Sweden

Well, alright, DLC that wasn't released on the same date the game was.

    9th Civ: It's Sweden

Every European civ bar Russia (which is only European-ish) and the Netherlands, has had 2 UUs. Hell, no DLC civ has had a Unique Building. I feel like they didn't want to add a UB unless no other civ in the game would build something similar, and pretty much every building in the Western world...

    9th Civ: It's Sweden

They put "Elsinore" (Helsingør) in the Danish city list. If there's an English name for a city, it will be the name they put.

    Civ's features through maps

Iceland should be hatcheted in Danish colors (Reykjavik), and Greenland should be hatcheted or full (Godthåb). And what should the Byzantine empire represent on this map? It's not really represented by any modern-day country that's not Greece or Turkey, so I wouldn't know, either, but I don't...

    New Civs - Confirmed Details

The Korea scenario already includes a Mongolian leaderhead, which is the only DLC leader to appear in a scenario he is not related to.

Sunday's PAX talk (with summary of the info)

Soldiers would be too fluid. Imagine fighting a two-front war, where your eastern front manages to repel a large attack. Suddenly, your western border troops lose morale when they realize the enemy forces were weakened, but when one of your weakened units die, the rest then pick up the slack...

Who and how will you play first?

You know you can play as and against the same civ at the same time, right? Just pick them as one of your opposing civs. This'll mean they'll get the wrong color scheme (usually Songhai's), and steal cities from your city list, but you'll get to interact with your own leaderhead.

...That's a city state. There's one light green dot and two black spots. It's a light green city state with black borders.

    Continent of remaining Civ?

I'd be awed and amazed by the the Lion civilization, with Pride Rock as its capital, and James Earl Jones speaking Swahili as its leader.

    Continent of remaining Civ?

South America has exactly 1 civ total, which is a DLC civ. Africa had at 2 from the outset, and will have 3 after the expansion (four, if you want to count Carthage). I'm still rooting for another African civ, and I'm not even sure that there are non-Incan nations in pre-colonial South America...
