    2020 US Election (Part 3)

I'd still be interested in an examination of these claims, rather than a presumption that everything they say is false. Even liars use the truth, and the best liars almost never use anything else.

    2020 US Election (Part 3)

Can anyone provide a convincing refutation of this, on whether there was election fraud in Pennsylvania? I'm not going all in on the idea of a stolen election, but I'd just like to know what I might be missing from the other side.

    [RD] Ask a Theologian V

Forgot about this question - have you seen the quote? Is it something that Aquinas or other Christian theologians would believe? Also, is the story about Aquinas saying that everything he had written was "like straw" after having a mystical vision apocryphal? Finally, I have some concerns...

    The Very-Many-Questions-Not-Worth-Their-Own-Thread Thread XL

Thinking about learning some Greek to read classical texts. Should I do Koine or Modern Greek? Koine is what they're written in, but from what I understand Modern Greek is pretty intelligible with it and then I'd have the advantage of it being a living language (for my purposes I probably...

    Artsakh-Azerbaijani War

Mid-term interests, like maybe the next few decades. By 2050 Iran will probably not be a threat anymore, and if Turkey annexes Syria and creates a Sunni militia in Lebanon, well, that's definitely bad for us. They might even fund a coup or civil war in Egypt.

    [RD] Ask a Theologian V

It's about the role of conscience and belief more than sex. If I mistakenly believe that a mortal sin is in fact obligatory - to the point that *not* performing it would be a mortal sin - and I don't perform it, do I sin mortally? It's a really famous argument, you don't need any special link...

    [RD] Ask a Theologian V

Is it true that Aquinas said that if someone believes "to omit fornication is a mortal sin, when he chooses not to fornicate, he sins mortally"? I found this quote here and Google search doesn't retrieve anything other than that one article.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The CFC forum is haunted, the sequel - is it possible for me to type a word in to the search box and for the results to be listed without the search box closing first, or for me to have even clicked the 'search' button and made the page refresh? I could have sworn this happened (I was already on...

    Random Thoughts X: Impromptu Interpretations

Just saw Why Beauty Matters and it's much better than I expected. I really like Scruton; it's a pity he doesn't draw the connection between the loss of higher purpose in art in favor of the appreciation of art on its own terms as the catalyst for our situation.
