    Civilization 6 Features Thread

"Aqueduct Brings water from Rivers/Oasis/Mountains to boost population, Cities without access to fresh water get +6 Housing, Cities with access to fresh water get +2, Must: next to City Centre" This description seems very unclear: it suggests a city with no acces gets more housing than not?

    First Look: Spain

Actually, most of the bonusses of Spain are related to faith or religious differences, and not the religious victory per se. The Civ's UA is about commerce and continent spread. The first bonus of Felipe only requires you to follow a religion, not to have founded one. The first bonus of the...

    First Look: Spain

Certainly, still the UU's are gated to a certain era, so there's a timeslot to when you can execute this strategy.

Where are my :whipped: and draft civics?

Do you know anything about the actual history of slavery??

    Leaders revealed

Okeey, I didn't read the entire thread so sorry if it's already mentioned; But isn't it quite clear that they're going for two leaders for Greece considering the alphabetical order of the leader portraits. If Pericles was for Athens and Gorgo for Sparta then they would be on completely...

My take on why Civ 6 will be a bad game, a 3 pt. podcast

Also I'm honoustly wondering in how far you've actually followed the devs in their promotiontalks of the game. Civ VI appears to be full of meaningful decisions: districts, eureka's, trade routes (which can often be incentives to war for the AI), the depowerment of science with the...

My take on why Civ 6 will be a bad game, a 3 pt. podcast

This quote alone shows how off the logic was to turn to an audio recording. I would have gladly written it, but after 5 minutes you still hadn't said anything crucial or got to your point. If people interpret your writing (or speaking) wrong; maybe you need to be more concise. :king:

My take on why Civ 6 will be a bad game, a 3 pt. podcast

Is there a transcript for people who are actually self confident of their own reading and interpretation abilities?

So, what is wrong with America?

Actually, although I didn't vote America myself (I want for China because of the Great Wall), I think it is by far the best designed iteration of the US so far. Normally I even evaded putting US in the pool of civs I would fight against, let alone playing it myself, but I've been convinced that...

Better AI in CIV 6 ?

This is a very true statement that's probably at the core of these discussions. It makes sense were it comes from, since the game is ofc designed as if the AI's are equal to the player, especially since in the field of civ leaders you are specifically replacing one. Because of this I hope...

    First Look: Scythia

Or maybe design a nomad civ that has a unique mounted settler unit that can fight for example (or at least defend), move fast, and settle cities far of (while also giving the civ a certain bonus that helps with maintaining those cities).

    Escalating Costs of Settlers

Then again, doesn't that make a little sense? How realistic are wide, yet peaceful empires in the first place (both historically as gameplay wise?)

The criteria to choose the Unique Units

O cmon.... the Jannisaries and Redcoats clearly belong in category 1..

    All leader portraits

Very strong point!! I would add though that some designs are even completely unique to each civ. We've already seen that between China and Japan all the houses, including the palace look very different (When it comes to units I have no idea). Also, each civ gets its own unique improvement or...

    All leader portraits

The one next to Gilgamesh could be Dutch since Phillip is probably ruled out: Either William the Silent: Or Maurice of Orange: Considering the new emphasis by the devs on both tile improvements and geographic focused bonuses, the Dutch and their polders might be up as one of the first DLC...

    Civilization 6 Features Thread

Maybe worth mentioning at the start that 4 civs out of the 18 will be completely new to CIV? This was mentioned on the twitch stream by Ed Beach I believe.

    "Religious Victory"?

This is extremely short-sighted. Religion is still one of the most important and influential ideas in history. That secularism has prevailed today has a lot of historical reasons, the domination of the West at the core of it, but games like Civ are there as well to show that if a fanatic...

Realism vs symbolism - or why Civilization isn't a Paradox game

If anything, Civ has always been more of a complex, digital board game with the evolution of civilizations as its core theme than anything else. It's no historical simulator and should therefor always put gameplay over historical correctnes (All hail Cleopatra).
