I'm very pleased that they decided to do at least one more round of DLC for IV and that it's focused on offering more alternate leaders. After the New Frontier Pass and apparent end of Civ 6's development cycle, I thought that the most underutilized feature was the multiple leader concept.
So I like Rome. It's a powerful civ in the game and an interesting one historically. But this competition, to me, seems less about power and more about the popularity/charisma of the leaders. As such, I'm pretty surprised that Trajan is not only in the final two, but is currently edging out...
Well... this is interesting. Not only the tournament, but the winning leader "taking over" their Twitter for a month. Makes me lean towards VI not being quite dead yet.
I'm surprised at the number of responses saying they've never accidentally won a DV. Perhaps "accidentally" is the wrong word, but I definitely know what OP means. I try to remain somewhat competitive in all victory types (maybe minus Religious). In doing so, I often find myself within easy...
Not literal crashes, but I had to force quit my game twice due to getting stuck on a turn processing the AI moves. Like, the little globe in the corner was spinning for five minutes kind of stuck. At the point of the game I was in (standard size map in the Medieval era), I this usually takes no...
There are a number of civs I would like to see in VI still, but I'd be satisfied with the game if they merely did one more DLC before calling it quits that included another North American indigenous people.
I just feel like the Cree alone aren't adequate for the area and its varied cultures.
I was already underwhelmed by the scope/quality of the balance changes, but they didn't even actually make changes to a full 2/3rds (in even a minor way)? Oof. I was expecting the majority of the changes to be on the scope of Spain or the Mapuche, so the buffed UUs as a result of the new units...
I've looked up mining in Australia after seeing this and it does seem to be an above average industry relative to other countries. Before seeing this design, however, I wouldn't have a clue. Strip mining is done all over the world.
I agree that that's the Emblematic Unit. It's semi-interesting...
Exactly this. Soviet Russia is no impediment in the Civ series if Stalin has been in the franchise already. A tank UU is nothing. Not to mention they've habitually done a tank UU for Germany, which, between the two, is way more of a problematic nod.
Yeah, I couldn't make any meaningful impact on city loyalty when I played the Mapuche. Ultimately a pointless feature unless the city is already on the verge of flipping... in which case, you can just wait for it to do so naturally.
LINE INFANTRY!!! I've been pining for a unit between Musketmen and Infantry. I know that's a weird thing to focus on, but this pleases me to no end. Also, I'll gladly take Men-at-Arms. The gap between Swordsmen and Musketmen was also a bit odd. And a trebuchet too? Thanks, Firaxis!
For me personally, I'd be fine if this is the final update for Civ 6 period if they were to throw in a free surprise bonus civ in the form of one more native American people. That was the only thing missing from NFP on my personal checklist.
Then again, I'd gladly see them do another full round...
I think regarding Feitorias as a possible UI that it would be cool if you could build them on unclaimed coastal tiles adjacent to a strategic/luxury resource. They could give you access to the strategic/luxury resource (without the need to work them) by giving you the land immediately...
I see both Eleanor and Catherine as strong characters, though I'm a little disappointed we didn't see Napoleon back, particularly when they decided to add Imperial Guards to France.
Cleopatra is a bit lame, too. There are actually female leaders of Egypt who are more deserving. I think Gorgo...
Whatever the reason for deviating, I'm pleased we won't see Maria again. I love it when they include strong female leaders, not when they simply shoehorn one in to meet a representation ratio/quota. Maria felt very much like the latter.
So Portugal likely means they're done with VI, but I think there's room for something like a "Final Frontier" pass that's maybe 4 new civs and one more alt leader as a sendoff. Doesn't even have to include game modes. There's just still money to be harvested from the fanbase by including a few...
I just loaded a game with the new update... set the CS to 12 on a standard map, but left the pool all-inclusive for random city states to develop from barbs. Must have misunderstood how to set this up, because I have both Mohengo-Daro and Cardiff spawned on top of me...
This. I think there's money for them to make on just adding one more round of new civs and alt leaders with some minor balance patching in between. Doesn't have to be as robust as New Frontier.
