Good stuff, everyone. Thank you for these.
Couple of follow up questions. My normal build (which I am kind of tired of and can win on Prince nearly every time with and 75% of the time on King pre BNW) was: Scout, Monument/Shrine, Settler, Library/GL. My goal was to have 3 to 4 cities by turn...
I'm looking for advice about how best to use my first 200 turns on King and figured you all would have some good ideas. I'm not a great player by any means (clearly since King is my ceiling for not getting my butt kicked every time) and would love to hear some different takes from people on...
Beld, I have a probably silly question -- but how have you had 396 turns and only be to 460 AD? What settings are you playing on? I'm normally in the 1900s by turn 396. Just curious. Thanks!
I'm having an over heating issue on my Mac. Never had a problem with it overheating before but it keeps happening. I tried lowering all the video settings to see if that helped but nada. Could be (and most likely is) a hardware problem.
Sorry for the newb question -- I'm not a modder and only dabble with the notepad elements of modding.
It's been awhile since I've done it, but I inserted this string into the notepad on the map I like to play:
Victory=VICTORY_CONQUEST
Victory=VICTORY_DOMINATION
Victory=VICTORY_CULTURAL...
Thank you all for the help...I'm starting to get somewhere with this. Sorry I'm so newbish with the modding questions, I appreciate all your help and patience.
I like your idea Thunder. If I'm understanding this right...If I disable a couple key techs early in the game, that will prevent the...
Thanks for the response:)
Just one question...when you say "Each Civ will have a <DisableTechs> section", does that mean in the Notepad file of the scenario? Or is it in another folder/world builder?
Thanks again!
I had a similar question -- but I am terrible at modding so I need (if at all possible) a more step-by-step outline to do this.
For example, all I really do with mods is play on the Earth 18 Civ map, but change up which Civs are present (in the notepad file) at the start of the game and do...
It's just odd. I uninstalled warlords (and Civ IV), reinstalled Civ IV 1.00 and again the graphics work fine. Looks great etc. When I emailed tech support they said my graphics card wasn't supported by the game, but I just can't understand it. Did they make an entirely new graphic engine for the...
I emailed tech support for 2K and they now tell me my graphics card won't work with the game.
But -- it DID work for Civ IV vers 1.00. I don't get why it suddenly became obsolete with the new patch and Warlords?
No one else is having this problem?
I just don't understand why I was able to run Civ IV at high resolution without a problem, then when I installed Warlords (with the updated patch) I am now forced to run on low resolution...
Any thoughts? Solutions etc?
YES! My computer ran Civ IV fine, no worries at all with graphics. A new computer (not the best, but specs up to snuff for the game).
I installed Civ IV Warlords today and when I ran Warlords, the graphics went nuts, crashed the game and I had to lower the graphic settings from HIGH to LOW...
I appreciate the response, but you are missing the point.
In Civ II (or maybe it was III), they had the Earth map already created (So there are no worries about resource placement etc). In Civ IV there are two Earth maps which were created by modders here (The 18 civ and the 8 civ version)...
