Thank you for your response. If I had the patience to keep trying this "challenge", I probably would have started the game dozens of times before I made any real progress. But of course this could also just mean that I'm not intelligent enough to come up with a strategy like the one you describe.
What the hell? Started playing (on prince) without getting any information/spoilers from the internet, just to see how it goes. After three turns a death robot appeared, killed this one starting AT crew (which I had moved to get some scouting information) and pillaged everything that could be...
Just wanted to say thanks for this discussion. It gives me a lot of inspiration. I am still playing Civ6 but even after over 14K game hours (according to steam) my frustration over the still existing bugs and badly balanced game features annoys me more and more. Barbarians still ruin every...
One of the things I have learned over the years: Counter-espionage is worthless. I always put three spies with the defensive promotions in my capital (one in the city center, one in the industrial zone, one in the spaceport and if I can have a fourth one, in the neighborhood) but it is no use at...
Thanks for responding.
To be honest, I think this "challenge" is the most primitive thing that was ever officially released for Civ6. The game is more or less dead, and there is no sign on the horizon for a "Civ7". On Youtube, Ursa Ryan is the only guy left (as far as I know) who releases Civ6...
Just played as Pericles. So proud of my first two hoplites...until they met barbarian line infantry. Immediate rage quit.
(I know I don't have the necessary patience for this game. That's why I'm so bad.)
@EgonSpengler I have exactly the opposite opinion. I often start a game with the intent to test a certain strategy. And then, out of nowhere, three barbarian men-at-arms and four crossbows appear, long before I have my first swordsman.
The developers could have implemented a simple compromise...
I hope I may ask a question concerning a mod here? (Couldn't find a "quick help" thread in the "creation and customization" section)
When I use a map from the "Ynamp" mod, the number of AI civs in the game setup does not automatically change according to the actual map size ("large" "huge" etc)...
My first after-patch lesson learned: I still cannot win with Wu Zetian (not even on immortal or emperor). In the early game she is only a vanilla civ without any advantages. Turn 70, my neighbor Spain has 1035 military strength against my 135, he has 85 science (against my 8) and has already...
Sigh. Fixed the music, great. But my builder still cannot move two tiles over water instead of making a completely unnecessary detour over an adjacent land spot.
(I know I have to move builders only one tile at a time as a workaround, but they could have fixed the pathfinding issue a long time ago.)
You guys really think about something like "Civ7"? We are at least some years away from a release like that.
And I don't think the "undo button" will coming to Civ6. The leader pass will probably be the last breath of this game. And they did not even fix long-known bugs in the leader pass.
Thank you for replying to my posting. I always appreciate that.
My steam account says I have over 12K game hours in Civ6. You can really believe me when I say: I know the game rules and mechanics, I know how the AI typically behaves and I know the typical strategies to achieve specific tasks...
So I wanted to test Theodora but all I could do in the first 50 turns was building warriors and slingers to fight endless amounts of barbarian preventing me from doing anything related to faith, culture or science. And this happens in every single game. If only I could do anything to persuade...
...and my first game with Theodora on level emperor is already over. Killed by Ambiorix in turn 35. So hard to get a religion and have enough units at the sametime.
But I will keep trying and get a victory some day.
