    Path to a diplomatic vicotry

I'm giving Falcon AI's Diplomacy mod (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=502562) a go. It seems like it makes diplomacy a bit more workable, though I don't think it makes civs who like you any more likely to vote you in. Not sure why he elected to disable denouncing, though. he...

    Falcon AI: Diplomacy

i'm curious: why did you remove denouncing all together rather than tweaking it? it seems like a good mechanic, being able to lower others' opinions of your enemy by bad-mouthing them and causing a temporary diplomacy hit... love what you've done otherwise. i'll give it a go.

    Path to a diplomatic vicotry

ah, right. I didn't even bother trying to get votes from other civs, since they were all "guarded" by the time I got close to winning. they seem to be a bit quick on the "warmonger" draw...

    Path to a diplomatic vicotry

I just won a diplo victory on Emperor, as Venice, but it left me a bit cold. It's easy with them, since their cash means you can ally up with every city state and pretty much win in congress automatically when you hit the atomic era. But I get the impression it's almost impossible to get any...

The Diplomatic Victory - observations, notes and tips

this was an outstanding post. i immediately started a diplo game, and unfortunately still lost. well, gave up after i realized i'd never get the vote--although i was winning the game overall. what i found is that it was near impossible to overcome the relations the civs had with each other...

The Diplomatic Victory - observations, notes and tips

are you positive about that? that's actually good news--it means there's only one civ you need to worry about not trading with to avoid upsetting an ally, rather than all the one's he's annoyed/furious with...

    Monarch strategy--condensed

my impression is the border cities' armies are the most important for avoiding attacks by your rivals. this also applies to coastal cities. i believe these cities are "visible" to the ai's, so you should keep decent modern units in them. i've had a friendly ai attack me by dropping a small...

    Monarch strategy--condensed

i've found that i can build the population fairly well if i start by laying down farms in my new cities, rather than cottages. i research agriculture and sometimes animal husbandry (depending on the tiles i have) before wheel and pottery, so i can take advantage of any special food tiles. i...

    Monarch strategy--condensed

hi all, ok, i'm feeling all validated from the quick responses to my new threads (i'm new to the forum) so i've decided to try something a bit more extensive. i spent the entire day at work yesterday working my way through all 14 pages of this forum and gleaned everything i could pertaining...

The perfect chop: let's compare strategies

ok, i've read heaps of opinions on chopping, spread accross numerous posts, and i'm hoping i can start a thread that will allow us to compare strategies in short, concise posts. as an example, here's what i usually do: - start building worker on turn 1 - chop 2nd worker - chop 3rd worker...

Land grab VS research and infrastructure

i've been land-grabbing up to the borders of my opponents with chop rush in all my monarch games, but have seen some posts that suggest this is a mistake. is it better to stay small with a maxed-out research rate, even at the expense of facing much larger enemy nations? i would think that...

How good are Pyramids and Representation, really?

i play on monarch, and usually make pyramids a big priority. now i'm questioning it, and wondering what i could be saving my chop-rushing forests for instead. is representation really all it's cracked up to be? i think it boils down to a couple of considerations: - from what i've read, high...

    PTW leaderhead help requested!

actually, most of the xx_all.pcx for my leaderheads AREN'T in the standard \advisors directory. i don't know why, but at least half my leaders' xx_all.pcx files are now some other graphic file used by the interface, and the actual leaderhead image is named something odd and located in a...
