I find it kind of funny that in a game supposedly so streamlined and made simpler in so many ways, that the tech tree has so many complex rules built into it. :) Maybe they didn't expect people to sit down and try figuring out all the nuances??? But c'mon, these are Civ players we're talking...
Yup, you're right Krikitone. How could I forget those 1/2/1 Phalanx units in Civ 1 that would defeat my cannons so regularly. :) Good point about Civilization traits/bonuses too; definitely an added dimension.
I just posted this same post in a thread where a guy asked if he'd like Civ IV. It's better suited to this discussion though... I've been considering what's in each version of civ in terms of a game concept... Now of course Civ II had some things over Civ I, but still...
In general CivRev...
So I played the demo a few times through yesterday... I've been playing civ since Civ I when I was about 12. In general CivRev is actually a little more fun than I expected, but I was thinking about it, and I'm likenning the depth of strategy and complexity to that of about Civ I. To me...

I agree with this concept. Basically all of your military production should go into building a small number of large armies. It would satisfy the Unit Workshop type of flexibility because basically what you'd be doing is adding on capabilities to a single unit. Anything but single units (not...
I don't claim to be an expert or anything, but for the religion side, you have access to Judaism, Budhism and Hinduism in your cities, and possibly more later. Has someone else gotten the Shwedagon Paya which enables all religion civics? You may want to consider changing to Free Religion which...
Interesting thoughts guys, I really appreciate the input. Good to know that it's not just me; I was starting to think I was no good or something. hehe... :)
For general saving and load behaviour, I find that at that type of difficulty, a load doesn't really feel like cheating to me -...
I've always been a fan of spaceship victories above all others - to me it seems the victory that establishes the greatest domination through the game, and I've never liked being a warmonger. It seems most of the Deity strategy guides focus on conquest or culture victories. Is it possible to...
