In my few games the ai tends to play tall. Last game half a Continent was left unsettled

Right click on civilization 5 in your library. Then properties. There should be a tab at the top of the dialogue box that says DLC. Should show up there. I'm at work, not sitting in front of computer so directions to that might be a little off Ninja'ed

Play mostly at king, only go higher when I want a challenge. But most of my casual games are at king. I am a peaceful player. Builder.

Defensive pacts are good for this problem. With God's and kings the ai seems more willing to sign them as well
