I agree. There are a lot of question marks with Shaq: He is old, he is injury prone, he is no longer a defensive presence, I wouldn't even call him dominant in terms of boards and he is slow. Nash does seem to make everyone play better so hopefully he can ignite Shaq, but it is a desperate gamble.

They didn't have to trade. At the time they were leading a very competitive west and were only 4 games behind Boston, all the while having played a lot of games on the road. And about Kurt being a great addition, I think that is something of an overstatement. But the point is, they didn't...

This has been the week of ridiculous trades. Kwame Brown-Pau Gasol was absurd. The Lakers got an all star level center for Kwame... unbelievable. It's almost criminal and in a fantasy league it would be vetoed because it would certainly imbalance the competitiveness of the league. Now the...

I should add to my posts that Toronto can make it to the second round if we get 4th or 5th seed and avoid Cleveland in the first round (meaning we have to pass Washington in the standings and end up playing them in the first round). This is entirely possible because we had a grueling schedule...

Nestorivic isn't finished, because he never started  ;) This was the year to make the big move... and it didn't happen. So either this team will need a major addition (as in another star) or it will have to be blown up in the not so distant future, keeping Bosh and Calderon but...

Chris Paul is amazing and might the real most valuable player this year (imo). He is able to singlehandedly carry his team over anyone, and he`s just a 6`1 pointguard. He is unbelievable and has been doing this all season.

We`re having a bad (almost terrible at times) season and seem to be going in the wrong direction. T.J. Ford`s injury concerns are always going to hang over our heads like the sword of Damocles, we need to resign Calderon, we are one of the softest teams inside and although we looked real good...

    NBA hack and slash

The intentional fouling is a very strategic part of the game. Time stoppages in general (fouls and timeouts) and speeding up the clock\increasing the number of possessions are a major difference between NBA basketball and College, for example. If a team is up by several possessions in college...

    January Transfer Window 2008

Imagine if you want to follow some of the bigger South American clubs (like FC São Paulo, who are quite talented) and players. Hardly anyone on this forum talks about it. But EPL is the best league in the world right now, I agree. edit: On topic, Adriano was loaned to FC São Paulo and he...

    NBA upholds protest requiring replay

David Stern really lost it last year, starting with the synthetic leather basketballs which he introduced and then replaced because everyone started complaining about the quality + he was outed for only having made the initial change because the wife of the Houston Rockets owner is a member of...

    Most promising football player

I agree, Messi (he came second in voting for best UEFA player) and Fabregas are already there. I think Pato is the next great enigma from Brazil. How good will he be? Will he be starting on the nationial selection by the time of the world cup?

    NBA upholds protest requiring replay

Part of me thinks this has to do with a lot of the heat Stern has taken over the last season, with a crooked ref (Toronto got eliminated in a game seven by a basket refereed by this guy  ) and controversial decisions (Amare's suspension). I think the NBA's credibility, which was...

Tim Duncan is the only true franchise player I see on that list :scan: To be fair regarding Iggy, Small Forward is probably the hardest position to produce a "franchise player" out of. But I love small forwards... guys like Stephen Jackson or Josh Smith. Stephen Jackson got a gun, you...

Neither is Josh Howard, Manu Ginobli, Caron Butler or Stephen Jackson. They are all awesome basketball players though, on any given night they can be the best in the world (for that night)

    Your Nation's Greatest Leaders

On my shortlist of Portugal's great leaders I have: 1) Dom João II - The "perfect prince", a worthy rival to the most powerful Castilian monarchs, his age represents from my idealized perspective the golden age of Portugal (not the Manueline era). Centralization of royal power, repression of...

Arsenal was the killer team none of the top seeds wanted to face. Hopefully AC Milan will get knocked out very quickly.
