For a lot of people who have been playing Civ since the 90's some rules add in a challenge that just isn't there if you don't. Once you have beat the game on every level with every civ in every victory condition you start looking for new ways to limit yourself.
I just kill the camps with a scout/ranged unit. The AI is terrible and will send out the encamped unit to attack the ranged unit. Just move the scout in and gg boys we are going home.
I am curious if an AI could ever win a domination victory on standard settings. Standard size/map/civs/citystates/etc. If anyone knows of a replay of this I would be interested in watching it.
That is like me saying running a sub 4 minute mile impossible. Might be for me, but tons of runners do it every year.
I crush the AI with standard settings. I will give you that deity is a bit tricky and you won't win every game, but if you get past the initial rush you are normally setup for...
Would love to see that in 7. Being able to pay a civ for a tile would be awesome. Only downside is we know the AI won't have a clue how to value it unless chatGPT is integrated by this point.
I normally run a lot of IZ with coal plants so I flood the world quickly. Just make sure you get Computers early and then it is pretty cheap to build in your coastal cities. For the new or low production cities you will have to use the engineers but it shouldn't be that many.
Not claiming there isn't some lazy development, but I don't think this is one of those cases. Makes sense that you wouldn't be able to build on an archeological site.
I mean have you tried getting a building permit for the Acropolis or the Pyramids? Probably not going to get the approval you...
This is what I think is difficult for the game devs. Emperor is my fun level that I play on because I can get a religion and win any victory condition I want without touching any of the settings. Standard speed, standard map, standard resources, etc. Just pick a civ and play. You add in secret...
I have gotten it and it was in reach of a second city or 4 moves with your initial settler. I tried to make it work twice but the science is only really powerful early. Problem is production is more powerful. Not as overpowered as I would have thought on the map it spawned on for me.
You would be surprised. With all default settings (std speed, no map changes, etc) and no mods I mostly play Emperor maps because I never lose and I like to build wonders and get a religion. Now even if I don't win via a domination victory I conquer near every city in the game (averages about...
One thing I like about multiplayer games is the level of patch support they normally receive to make sure the playing field stays even/interesting. I hope Firaxis leaves room in their methodology for continual improvement on this title for at least the next 4 years. Having a quarterly patch...
Emperor with standard speed, maps, opponents, etc. I think changing these settings especially game speed to marathon makes the game much easier for the human.
Emperor is fun as it allows you to get a religion, expand, conquer your continent, and then every last city all in about 3-4 hours. I...
Spawns are inconsistent I would say. Especially with barbs and CS. I have been on a continent with no CS's or barbs a few times. I have seen an island with 4 CS's and nothing else. I have had barb camps that respawn the next turn. A lot of games I get at least 1 neighbor but some I have had...
I don't know what the devs can do to change things. It is like me going out to play basketball and complaining that if I don't shoot 3's well and play solid defense my team is going to lose when we play the best teams.
Deity is playing the defending champs and you can't be scoring with...
It happens to me more than I like to admit. You either switch targets to take out the religious leader or you spend a ton of faith converting all your cities to some other AI religion. Not really fun as you said to be crushing the AI to have it bassackwards its win into a victory.
Side note...
I am half tempted to mod in Valetta as a permanent CS. It is the only way you can get a flood barrier in when you are conquering new cities. Waiting 84 turns to get one in place on a newly conquered city is stupid.
*on a side not I was reading Tyrog's signature block and whoever wrote the...
