Thanks very kindly.. I appreciate this answer and all the work you obviously put into this site.. Thanks again
BTW, I can probably spend most of my life expectancy doing the first 32! :)
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I have d/l'd several 6otM files only to find they required the Rise and Fall expansion. Do all the games require that? If not would it be possible to label the 6otM requirements so I don't have to d/l it and try to load it before I find I can't play...
That link is broken for me.. just letting you know.. did it work? did you test it?
hmm.. I have tried it various times.. sometimes it works, sometimes not.. bit of luck I guess
I don't believe they have any direct application whatsoever.. when they came out with Civ 3 I believe they plugged most of the functions that made those old documents as effective as they were.. of course by seeing their methods for finding and testing those strategies I suppose you could apply...
Regarding your quest for the Great Library... it's kind of in transition while Apolyton rebuilds its site.. I have been unable to get any schedule by posting so I assume they are busy working on it.. The GL links are "broken" until whenever they get the links restored. As you can tell by logging...
Has anyone duplicated the "Paulicy" on some other site? I note that all links to it yield redirects. I assume he has allowed the site to revert. I did do searches to find valid links. If I missed it, I'm sorry.
Well I THINK I am now working it "properly". The instructions here appear to be needlessly complex. Once I figured out that what you actually were showing was not the thread at all OR ANY OF THE LINKS but instead was the downloadable .txt file to be renamed .htm file in post 5 (I hope this is...
Sorry SlowThinker, but that link is pretty much useless for me. It takes me to a site that contains a long "change log" type messages, but no link to actual information works.. it only takes me to "Page not found" links
hehe.. ya I'm aware a lot of AI "cheating" goes on.. I know for one thing that it doesn't take a diplomat to bribe a city... any unit seems to be able to do it (and "investigate city" too) .. as far as I can tell only time a dip is needed is for stealing techs.. I have looked at the thread in...
I have a question regarding this subject EXCEPT I'm interested in what it costs the AI to do each of the above? I've tried to trace these things by cheating or using the embassy function, but really can't define the math of it. Since this series of posts was so well defined, I was hoping someone...
OK.. thanks to the steady work of Methos and Denniz, we found the problem that I was having with the "ASSET CONDITIONS" problem. I am posting AGAIN to let some of you know what the problem was, and how to avoid it for yourself. I can't believe that I am the only person that this happened to, but...
Well I did that and played a few dozen moves, then exited and re-tried the HOF mod.. still says I have assets different from a standard install.. Any other ideas?
edit: I did re-run the 1.74 patch.. it didn't make any difference. Still the same result for a new "custom game" with HOF mod. I...
Well I'm back again.. Gosh this seems rediculously complicated.. and I've actually WORKED AT IT!! .. Now I'm doing all the "right" things.. custom game, check "locked assets", fresh install (never even played a game) with 1.74 and HOF.. and now I get the "assets are different" message.. this is...
Hmm.. it seems that the "custom game" requirement is not clear on the pages defining the HOF.. I thought I read it fairly thoroughly but never caught that. If it is I apologize.. so much for re-installing the game and all that ...
The instructions on this page here don't have the space...
Ok, I took the advice. Used Control Panel (I have Win XP Pro sp2) and uninstalled Civ4. Then deleted all folders remaining in the install directory including the install folder itself. I installed direct from the plain vanilla Civ4 2CD install set... used the "get updates" from the "advanced"...
Well, ignorance forces superstitious solutions. Let me rephrase the question. What sets the "asset modification" flags? I find no mention of it in anything but HOF. Does some version of Civ4 have a .ini entry or an initialization flag for this asset status? Can someone tell me what it even is...
No.. Its a plain vanilla install with no expansion packs .. sorry.,.. thought that was clear from the above, but since i don't have the expansions, I really don't know.. :)
