well I gave up Civ 2 multiplayer. I tried Starcraft, but everyone boots me because my internet sucks so much. I'm connected at 9600 bps, a 56k modem's supposed to be faster than that. What little I have is also wasted by america onlines worthless software.

also a note, the game you want to play with a friend, but not online is called a hotseat game. When you start Civ 2 (assuming you get your copy working) go to the multiplayer games and it's right there.
