This is the key point. The most valuable resource at any given time is whatever is holding you back from building the next thing, whatever is blocking your progress. If you improve this resource then your cities get better. If you improve some other resource it doesn't really help because you're...
You don't need the xenowell tech to get resources from a friendly nest. However, there is some weirdness on whether it counts or not. Best I can tell, you need to "acquire" the nest after aliens are blue. So either expand into the nest or have the nest spawn in your territory. Notably, the nest...
I think the governor prioritizes a yield but doesn't necessarily max it. So on production focus, it still might pick a 4f1e tile over a 2p tile. This might explain why it doesn't use specialists even when it "should" - their yield is just too bad.
It's from SMAC. You can tell because it's complex and evocative and Lal actually reads it, instead of being dull and trite and delivered by the same voice who keeps boring you all game.
For the same reason they think monochrome icons and no strategic view are a good idea: they don't actually ever play their own games, so they don't notice how bloody awful things are.
Other game developers sometimes talk about "quality of life" improvements. Minor features that don't really...
That's the game in a nutshell. I'm honestly not sure what the developers spent all their time on. It wasn't game balance, it wasn't story, and it definitely wasn't UI. They had a few good mechanical ideas and then called it a day.
The AI seems to have the same eternal-hatred logic as the old city-states. After I killed off Kozlov, three of them declared on me within two turns. It's now fifty turns later, I'm holding one front, took a minor city on another, and took Freeland - and NONE of them will even talk to me. Not...
MD had ~15 floatstone after taking out the Slavs, but you can't see it because he hasn't bothered to build the quarries. He's currently past turn 200 and doesn't even have the tech. I think he easily could have gone purity, using Battlesuits instead of CNDRs for his first war. It might not have...
I should clarify. I'm not saying flood plains are "omg nerf now" broken, but they are really really good. They're trade route good. And I think MD is silly for placing his cities to cover all the basics and not even looking at the river.
That explains it! Thanks, fixed.
This thread is about how flood plains are crazy broken. But in the interest of being more than just "X is OP", here's all the terrain info. Most of this is from MadDjinn's most recent LPs (i.e. the pre-release build); info from the press build or earlier is in italics.
The forum won't let me...
