Surprised no one seems to have gone for a Religious AP win. I gave it a go, thought I botched it, then thought I had it locked up...and then failed for reasons I need to do some game testing to figure out.
I used obelisks to get a great prophet which I used to bulb a very early Christianity...
I've hit a bit of a wall in trying to tinker with making a mod. Basically comes down to, I'm not the most tech savvy and the learning curve for figuring out how to fiddle with DLL files feels more like a brick wall I can't get past.
Anyhow, is anyone up to offer their services to do some...
Had a fun loss with this one.
Expanded fairly quickly and snagged territory down to the gold to the south. Two barb cities popped up in the jungles to the east of the continent. The closest of them (near the gems) had archers, but further south (elephants) was just warriors so I was able to...
With BTS I never managed to get the HOF mod stuff to work and always get the error message that my game won't be eligible to submit. So back in the day I just submitted vanilla games, and now I'm happy to just play the bts ones even if I can't submit them.
Super fun game.
Ended up with a diplo win in 1892 after chasing a religious win for 500 years. Key take away, I need to figure out AP mechanics better.
I settled on the hill to the east to get the corn. Got 2nd and 3rd cities fairly fast by the river to the east and up in Scandinavia. Then...
Botched this game but a fun one nonetheless.
Had a crap start and only built 1 additional city with the flood plains and stone to the NE. Hammurabi grabbed a spot near the copper to the NW much faster than I expected.
I was able to build pyramids and then great library. Some smart tech...
Amazing write up! Think you could have gotten a vote to ban nukes? Would have made a Cyclops war more survivable.
I also took a stab at a Titan game. Actually was surprisingly playable, except for the AI hating you. haha. Yeah - playable, not winable.
I was able to get the Great Lighthouse...
Been tinkering with this mod a bit more and am finally getting around to trying to figure this out. My understanding is that fiddling with this would change the settling behavior for all civs in the game. However if its possible to adjust these levels for specific leaders then this would be an...
Super fun game. After a 1st game in which I presumed Persia would be friendly (and built no defense and got rolled by Persia early) I had a very interesting 2nd game. Learned a lot about how to effectively fight from a pretty significant tech disadvantage. It ended up being a culture loss to...
So I've been tinkering with this some in World Builder. Its time consuming but pretty easy to change the +/- relations between various civs. However after some trial and error I'm still at a loss for good levels. From past game play, I was thinking -5 would keep folks from opening borders - but...
I am such an idiot....I just checked to make sure, and apparently I downloaded the Prince version. Wowo. Head desk.
I honestly played through the whole game (and that long ass write up) thinking I was on a higher difficulty level. Fail.
Well now I am super embarrassed.
Interesting, in my game Mongols were advanced - but Cambodia was right up there with them in terms of tech and power. At the end I was well ahead on GNP (about double theirs at the end) and had approximate parity in terms of power and tech. Production wise, we were about even as they had Mining...
I’ve never gotten BTS patches to work right and hence have never been able to submit one of the BTSM games. However, I still play most of them and this was probably my best played high difficulty game ever (EDIT: actually I am an idiot and downloaded the Prince version and didn't notice and just...
Since this is my 1st stab at sharing a scenario - I would also love to solicit some feedback. Following are various things on my mind:
I picked the leaders I think are best suited to start locations and are best balanced against neighbors, but am very open to feedback.
I think the early game...
I made a thing! For years I’ve thought it would fun to play a version of the Earth 18 Civs game but with all 34 Civs in BTS. Thanks to some home isolation, I finally made it happen.
Download here.
The game uses a merge of the Next War mod (think it makes for a more interesting late game) and...
