Wait a minute, you mean units outside your borders incur a higher maintainence?
Btw, sidetracking a little, what does it mean if a farm is not irrigated?
So what you're saying is play it like I do in a usual CE game, except this time you have another specialized city specialising in great people? That city would be specialising in scientists I presume?
So I've just won my first SE game via space race. Ended a little later than I liked after the year 2000, but then its space race and i was playing on continents.
And now I feel that I'm ready for a game where I incorporate both elements in. How do I decide which path to go? I've often heard...
I have not touched any of the automation settings. All of them are offed. Yet the game keeps changing the specialist I assign for some reason, especially when I spam scientists in my super science city and the game secretly changes them to spies. its damn annoying when ur playing as SE. How do I...
Everyone says chopping is an excellent strategy. But Chopping takes away forests, which are excellent sources of hammers. If you chop too much, your city will have crappy production. So why chop?
But then when do u concentrate on growth and when do u concentrate on commerce/hammers? Say the city is healthy and happy, should i still encourage growth at the expense of say hammers or commerce? What if the growth is really slow (ie. excess of 1 food only)? Should I reallocate the tiles to...
How do u balance this up? Especially in a GP farm? Also, for gold farms/ research farms/ production farms, how do i know when i should concentrate on growth or when i should concentrate on generating gold/research/hammers?
Also another specialisation question, is it even good to have a GP...
What is the usual optimal city size? Do u all try to get your city size as high as possible? And if ur city tiles overlap, whats the disadvantage? Can 1 tile be only used by 1 city? And whats pop rushing? THanks.
But ur makign it sound like a conquer all or do not conquer at all kind of scenario. Does it have to be this way? Wouldn't it be strainous on ur own civ? And it seems that peaceful civs always get an advantage over warmongering civs, technologically or otherwise. Why?
How do conquer cities effectively? It seems that when u conquer a city, the neighbouring cities' cultural borders are so huge they would likely take ur tiles away, especially so mid game and late game. So is there a point of conquering cities?
Well I'm thinking, if you control the length of your wars, for example, end the war after a certain number of years (instead of stopping after a certain objective is achieved), you won't lag behind so badly. Any opinions?
Yea sure u get increased productivitity (hammers), but then, in the long run, the tiles you have just cleared of tress will lose hammers (and possibly food, not sure) and thus become less productive. So why chop trees at all?
Hi, it seems that whenever my civ has a war with another civ, it starts lagging behind in the score list. Civs especially India, will usually top the list in research (techs). Now how do I maintain a lead in technology while maintaining a war? I'm not sure how research speed is determined...
I second that!
India ruled diplomacy in my game. Every civ on the pangaea continent loved Gandhi's India. Well almost everybody. I was 2nd in population and score list, behind Gandhi, but Gandhi was leading by a lot. Saladin was slightly behind me, 3rd in population and on the list. So when...
Horses provide powerful units. Even without copper, you can have iron as a substitute and long term expansion can eventually lead to the acquisition of copper or iron for future units. So what to do if you have no horses near you? And with the new patch, horses are not revealed without animal...
Hi, how do you play on terra maps? The thing is, on a large map, there are 9 civs concentrated on a single continent. There would be constant wars between civs. Whats the strategy?
