Am I limited by how much food a city can have?

Okay thanks, I guess it's just a bug. I notice it usually happens when a city is around 30 fpt, but it's not a fixed rule. I'm not so sure if it's related to shared tiles because I sometimes space my cities out quite far, and I know it's not related to military units because it happens a lot...

Am I limited by how much food a city can have?

Sometimes I want to grow a city to a massive size, for increased Science for instance. I occasionally am able to reach a food surplus of +28 per turn on one city. However, when I want to, say, change a citizen working on a Mine to a Farm, then it works (the Farm is locked down), BUT, another...

When do World Leader proposals take place?

I usually rush the Globalization technology so that I can win a World Leader proposal ASAP. But sometimes when I reach it, the next World Leader proposal is in 25 turns, while other times it is in 15 turns. How can I time it so that I reach Globalization with as few turns remaining to the...

Does a garrisoned unit's health matter when defending a city?

Okay thanks. Also, does the unit's ability to fortify also come into play? For instance, is it better to garrison a Modern Armor or a Bazooka? The latter gains defense from fortification. I'm guessing it DOES matter? Because I usually take a city with a Modern Armor (after blasting it to pieces...

How can I tell with someone's Great Wall goes obsolete (by researching Dynamite)?

Yeah, when the AI has Great Wall, I'll usually just go after the city containing that Wonder first. It's usually the capital. Hopefully it isn't located in the middle of the empire otherwise that makes it difficulty. Also I usually play Pangea, so coastal attacks are usually not an option. But...

Does a garrisoned unit's health matter when defending a city?

Does a garrisoned unit's health matter when it is defending a city from attacks? For instance, when I take an enemy's city, I'll usually try to wipe out as many enemy units nearby as possible, so that they cannot re-take the city immediately. When I do this, does it make sense to swap the...

How can I tell with someone's Great Wall goes obsolete (by researching Dynamite)?

When the Civ that builds the Great Wall researches Dynamite, the Great Wall becomes obsolete. How can I tell when this occurs? I'm often the tech leader, but attacking a Civ with the Great Wall is a hassle, so I want to wait until they research Dynamite. But how can I tell when this is? Or...

Game sometimes does not respond to the keyboard?

I use the keyboard frequently in Civ V, especially to use the Escape key to get out of menus quickly. Sometimes, I notice that when I hit a keyboard key, nothing happens in the game for a few seconds. And then after about 10 seconds, the game will recognize the key I pressed, and act on it...

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

That's pretty impressive if you can remove a Civ from their starting continent and yet they still win by building an empire elsewhere.

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

I usually try to do that, but often times the capital is buried deep between several other cities. Should I just leave the peripheral cities and move right past them, or take them and puppet/raze them? Normally I will take the cities between me and the enemy's capital because at the very...

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

If you kill all Civs but one, I'd imagine it's often faster to just go for the Domination victory then? Unless the one Civ is alone on an island somewhere, for instance, or you are already really close to the other victories.

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

Okay thanks, all good tips. Although personally, I find that if I am strong enough to go to war, then I am strong enough to eliminate a Civ completely. By then, the biggest problem is the happiness, so usually I wait until I've got an Ideology so I can pick a tenet that gives me huge happiness...

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

Are there tricks to getting the AI to DOW me? I'm sure there are, but I can't recall any at the moment, and so I end up not using any of those tricks. I guess I could do as much as possible to make our relationship worse on purpose?

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

In my current game, Dido DOWed me, so I wiped out all her cities but one. Then I had a big army but nothing to do with it, so I DOWed my next neighbor, Austria. Immediately after the DOW, almost all the other Civs denounced me. I'm guessing that they are better friends with Austria than with me...

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

Okay thanks, I wasn't aware at just how damaging to relations eliminating a Civ would be, but you have confirmed it for me. Before I knew anything, I'd of course eliminate Civs, but once I learned about it, I eliminated Civs about 50% of the time. Now, I'll try to keep that at about 90% of the...

Better to eliminate a Civ completely or leave them one city?

If I capture the last city of a Civ, then from what I understand, I will receive an EXTREME warmongering penalty among ALL Civs. So it's often recommended to just leave the Civ with one city, preferably a bad one, such as one located in tundra. However, sometimes it seems preferable to take...

Best way to acquire Culture in BNW?

Since BNW, getting Culture seems to be a bit more difficult. I play on Immortal difficulty, so getting Wonders for their Culture is mostly out of the question. What is the best way to acquire Culture? Has anyone done the math on what is most cost-efficient? For now, I usually try and become...

Can more than one Civ pledge to protect a City State?

Can more than one Civ pledge to protect a City State? If so, what's the point of pledging to protect a City State, besides the slight increase in resting point influence? In the few times I have used it, it has always risked me going to war with another Civ when they demanded tribute from one of...

Do units heal faster in your own territory?

Okay thanks. Although I don't think you can use roads in enemy territory, regardless of whether or not your own workers created them.

City State influence degrades at 0?

Ah yes, I forgot about the "same religion" degradation. So yeah, that's probably why some degrade at 0/turn.
