[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

I predict Babylon will get promoted to a full civ instead of a city state. They were highly influential in ancient times. They could be a science civ, or a civics civ--possibly with a Unique Ancient Government as a 4th option that only they could pick? Or a unique government district/building...

[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Just an out of the blue guess--but I predict the Babylonians return in Civ 6 as one of the NFP expansion civs. They were influential enough to be a major civ in previous incantations (including Civ 3 where they were my favorite). There will be 50 playable civs at the end of the NFP game, and...

    6otM 50 AAR - Gilgamesh of Sumeria

Science win in 1920 AD (Turn 341). I only settled about 6 cities total, and only about 4 initially. I had an early surprise war with Peter (he declared on me after we became friends), so I wiped him off the map, conquering his cities. I also ended up taking over a couple of Egyptian cities via...

News: Civ VI 6otM 50 Announcement

Interesting twist for #50! What game speed is it within the era? Marathon? Or does the game speed vary with file as well?

[R&F] Era speed in Rise and Fall

evan, I think that is a consequence of hitting the max that was established to ensure eras don't last too long (so if you get a golden age, for example, you aren't in a disproportionately long one). There is certainly a min and max time, artificially forcing progression in eras. This time...

[R&F] Era speed in Rise and Fall

I asked this question too, here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/trigger-for-new-age.628211/ No responses as of right now. That said, the deep dive into the Era mechanic by Firaxis stated that it does roughly correspond to tech/civic progress, but was not specific with regards to how...

    [R&F] Vanilla Civs in R&F

Trying Teddy again, since government legacy bonuses are gone and wildcard slots seemed nifty. Not far enough along to comment but generating Great Sci + Great Writer points from cards early game is pretty nifty! That said, I still think Teddy needs a boost...not top-tier, but if I can win with...

    [R&F] Trigger for new age

What is the trigger for a new age? Is it random (with a 10-turn warning and between the bounds listed on the screen), or can I influence it by researching tech and/or culture in the next age? I do know it is not triggered by the *first* person to research such as tech or civic...but is it based...

So founding cities helps you...I would hope so! The question is whether it helps you more than other options.

    TSG 124 After Action Report

Just submitted my victory, Science in 2004 (though I was somewhat close to Diplo--in an election cycle or two I would have been there because I was gaining ground on Sweden fast with City States). I know this isn't a hugely successful performance compared to others, but I had fun. I also was out...

    TSG 124 Opening Action thread

My initial approach to this game was to try for Diplo victory, just for the irony of it all :) I am not a fantastic player, but I am getting comfortable with King more and more, so I am trying to stretch my abilities a bit with this one (Emperor still gives me problems more often than not)...

    1UPT - final verdict?

I like 1UPT (well, 1 civ & 1 mil UPT), but I would be willing to try 1APT; that is, one Army Per Tile. You built 3 military units, combined them together (a la Civ 3 Armies), and that was the limit. That allows some additional customization, while still keeping stacks limited.

Firaxicon - why the hate for Canada?

Technically, don't Canada and Australia report to the Queen? I know that in all actuality, they operate as completely independent countries, but isn't the Queen still technically in charge of the constitutional monarchy you operate under? So, perhaps this would explain why Canada and Australia...

    News: TSG90 Announcement

Please help me understand something...just coming back to the GoTM series after a break for awhile... When it says "created in Brave New World" and then later says "Gods & Kings expansion required", does that mean I need to have *both* BNW *and* G&K, or does it mean that I only need G&K but it...

    Your dumbest victory

There was one game where I had the AI beat me to three different wonders...but it wasn't the standard "AI beat me by the skin of their teeth" story, it was "I wasted a Great Engineer because the AI still beat me"... Three Great Engineers down the tubes in a single game!

    Most competitive AI opponent?

You've covered a lot of them for me as well...but let me add my voice of support that Greece is probably most consistently the AI that is competitive in my games...throughout the entire ciV experience, beginning with Vanilla shortly after release.
