    DOW gone wild!

Has anyone actually played a game with the new patch and didn't end up getting into some sort of war all the way to the end? I'm talking about a continent or pangea type of map. This was possible before. I don't think it's possible anymore..

    DOW gone wild!

OK I'll use a couple of point suggested here but this still doesn't resolve a couple of glaring issues. 1) AI civ that first started this madness (Spain) by attacking me is on the brink of extinction and they still won't accept peace. 2) The rest of the world considers me a warmonger...

    DOW gone wild!

I have to disagree with this. Remember those 2 civs that hadn't DOWed on me? We were friends for quite some time, excellent relationship, etc.. As soon as the deal was over they also DOWed on me  Nice to have all AI against 1 human.. The funny thing is they aren't accomplishing...

    DOW gone wild!

I hadn't played CiV since last November and seeing the new serious updates over the past few months I thought I would give it a shot.. Just to be on the cautious side I started my game at king difficulty -which should be a cakewalk - as so much seems to have changed.. Now, I really like CiV...

    Unhappy with Unhappiness

This + The weekend before thanksgiving I was playing as China/Emperor and ended up conquering Arabia & Japan in a sweep thanks to the crazy general bonus. I had only 4 unhappiness, which seemed odd. Anyway I saved and loaded the game a few hours later. I had 65 unhappiness!!! Good ol' CiV and...

Average age of gamers rising. Average complexity of games dropping. huh?

I had a lot more free time to waste wrestling the steep learning curve of complex games when I was 15 and I was almost as smart back than, maybe even smarter! :) Anyone who is in their 30's, has a job, family, etc. can't be bothered with reading through 100 page manuals just to beat a game. This...

    Civiliopedia gone horribly wrong..

Yes, this whole business has "bad/lazy programming practice" written all over it. Having not enough words can be solved with a simple copy & paste. However as mentioned here, civilopedia seems to be incapable of referring to a database. "Bonus vs. tank" is a glaring example that supports my...

    Civiliopedia gone horribly wrong..

Yep, used to do the same thing.. But honestly if I were the decision maker, I would keep the link to such a mess of civilopedia as far away from the main menu as possible. The developers have done it right in that respect :)

    Civiliopedia gone horribly wrong..

O.K. Here it goes.. I would like to start with saying that despite it's shortcomings, I actually do enjoy the game, but being a long time fan I just couldn't stay silent with what they have (haven't!!) done with the civilopedia. I follow the forum quite regularly, and haven't seen a topic...

    Language translations for leader sayings

Canpolat, very good translation! I'll have a couple of additions/fixes though.. Btw I agree that the voice acting is very very unnatural, almost to a comical degree! (Note: I'm 'turco'-american) "I assume we must come to an agreement!" is a more literal translation. He is actually saying...

Is the diplomatic AI more clever than we get to see, or not?

Well I like CiV, and I do enjoy playing it. There is no hiding that.. One of the civfanatics that would say that out loud right away.. Nevertheless that doesn't change one simple fact:The Diplomacy is broken! I could start ranting about all the things that are wrong with it, but I'm not going...

The new patch seems to have arrived

Just did some performance comparison with an old savegame I had. I wasn't able to load it up since Friday because of Babylon!!! (I really can't believe that they did such a simple mistake, but that's a whole different topic...) Anyway the results seem to be quite positive. I was tracking...

Are there any HardCore Civ fans who like CiV?

:agree: The only thing I would add this comment is that it's been 16 years for me if I've got the arithmetic correct; and as you can see I've joined the fanatics rank well before 2010.. Being a silent follower for quite sometime, I had to break my silence and login again after this many...

    Civ5 performance analysis

Ahh DLCs.. Wonder how much they'll suck from my wallet this time :) NP, hope you solve your issues. I'm sure vanilla savegames exist out there.. Edit: There shouldn't be any performance difference between vanilla & deluxe. I'm sure you've some sort of a driver issue. It will probably get...

No stack of doom ! good or bad?

Sorry mate, don't really fit the formula you've got going on there..I've won every single civ on almost every level (higher than ~monarch, don't bother with lower levels), and when I say every single civ, I do mean every single civ..even the CTP spin offs.. Doesn't change a thing though. I...

No stack of doom ! good or bad?

GOOD!! I won't say 1UPT is the best solution, but anything is preferable to the SODs! I don't think I'll be able to go back and play the old civs any longer, which trust me is an incredible thing in my case; my hatred for SOD runs that deep..

    Civ5 performance analysis

Well, that's interesting. I'm sure neither of the savegames I attached were corrupt. Hmmm I remember someone here saying that the CiV deluxe savegames were incompatible with the regular savegames. Could that be the case? I have the deluxe w/ babylon, and if I don't remember wrong babylon is...

    Civ5 performance analysis

I guess something happened during the upload  Well, I'm attaching a new save at 400+ turn. Can't remember the exact turn #. I practically won the space victory but just holding back the last spaceship part to see if I can go with a cultural victory. For some reason none of the AIs are...

    Civ5 performance analysis

I've attached the savegame..I wanted to play a bit to test kaell's finding but you know the 'one more turn' syndrome..:) I'll get there!! Anyway the savegame is at ~355th turn. I did the stopwatch and now the turns range between 34-40 seconds. 4 superpowers, large armies, etc. slowed it down...

    Civ5 performance analysis

I don't think it has anything to do with the savegame. What's the hardware you're running it on? Right now I'm at turn 315, and it takes about ~15 seconds from turn-to-turn. This is on the largest map, in a standard game. I can upload the savegame when I get back from work, but your problem is...
