Mod development / new civs / strange behavior

thanks for the response! i've never put it up online anywhere since it wasn't working quite right. i'd be glad to zip it up and send it to you, if that works, or if you can suggest some other way to get it to you...

Mod development / new civs / strange behavior

it doesn't appear to be the case that load order is determined by the order in which things appear in the "actions" tab in modbuddy. i swizzled some things around so that the dependencies were all top to bottom, but no change in behavior. when i first reported the problem, i had a leader in...

Mod development / new civs / strange behavior

i'm working on a mod which includes several new civs and a map on which those new civs have specified starting conditions. i see the following odd behavior: - browse mods, check my mod - back -> single player -> setup game - select the map, check 'load scenario' - at this point, the only...

    Wars of the Bronze Age

did you mod the arabian special building 'bazaar', by chance? i'm playing through as the arabians, and just built my first bazaar. when i try to trade away a luxury resource that was doubled, i get a crash-to-desktop. this happens repeatedly. not sure if i should report it here or more...

The Hundred Years' War for Civ5

i'm really digging this mod. thanks for making it! i can confirm the save-game bug. i also tried starting a new game with the mod and then loading from within the game -- same behavior. also, i made peace with france in order to build up some, but then couldn't declare war again (that after...

World War II in the Pacific

so, i've noticed a couple of times that, when the japanese take a city, the city is immediately stocked with 4 machine guns and nothing else (on the turn the city is captured). in addition, there don't seem to be any other units of any type around the just-captured city. i'm playing as the...

    Napoleonic Europe

been playing this again recently (since i got around the MAF bug) - highlanders I and II have a bonus against light infantry. seems like they ought to have the same bonus against light infantry II, too. - recently, playing as britain, i took a few SE russian cities around the black sea. from...

Working MAF fix for WinXP 32bit!!

i tried /userva=2900 and 2800. windows still wouldn't start (and, the video driver seems likely... the screen went black after the initial windows start-up screen). /userva=2500 did work, though. windows would start, and (along with the other changes outlined in this thread), the MAF errors...

Firaxis: FFS, support the game. Bad Memory Allocation error when SAVING games

the MAF error: when you try to save a game, a dialog pops up saying, "Memory allocation failure - exiting program. Reason:bad allocation" (the term MAF is short for "memory allocation failure").

I Fixed The Maf Error... Here Is How!!

i tried to lie to windows with the /3GB option, and it was very, very unhappy with me. i tried this with maxmem set to 4096 (a lie) and 2048 (true). i have a P4 3.5 GHz, 2 GB ram, ATI mobility radeon 9800 (256 MB). this is a dell xps laptop. my pagefile is set to a huge 4096 MB (just to see...

I Fixed The Maf Error... Here Is How!!

i load the mod from within civ (well, when i started the game; after that, i double-click the savegame to load it and the mod in one step). the mod folder contains no executables, only xml and stuff. the executable that shows up in the task manager is indeed CivIVWarlords.exe.

I Fixed The Maf Error... Here Is How!!

this did not work for me. win xp, 2 GB physical memory. i tried /maxmem=4096 and 3072 in boot.ini, and i set the game executable to "know" about >2GB addresses. i was going to attach a savegame file, but the file is 819 KB, exceeding the forum limit of 500 KB for that filetype (or so the...

Firaxis: FFS, support the game. Bad Memory Allocation error when SAVING games

well, on the news that Fall from Heaven is to be included in the new expansion, i'm inclined to think that that there MUST be a patch fixing this (or that, at least, the expansion .exe will not have this problem). the MAF error happened frequently in FfH; i can't imagine they'd include the mod...

Firaxis: FFS, support the game. Bad Memory Allocation error when SAVING games

not a vista thing at all. it happens to me all the time w/ xp. i'd be glad to contact them, especially to provide them save-game examples (e.g., it crashes _right_ after this point when i try to save). can you tell us how to contact them? by the way, i am SO pissed about this bug right...
