A bit off topic but help!
I seem to be the only one that doesn't know how to use that map tacks mod properly. I just don't get it! I click on a hex for map tack - now what? How does the mod help?
I know this post makes me look incredibly stupid!:)
Ha! I'm an "old timer" as well as I started playing Civ 1 on the Amiga too! Was it two discs or three?
Civ 2 on the PC is when the addiction really started though.
I just hope they make the world BIGGER this time round - like it used to be. Even huge maps are not that big compared to previous games meaning Civ VI was a downgrade on this score. Just more space is needed generally - I think this is another reason why the AI struggles so much.
Realism all the way for me. I prefer the Deco look of Civ V by a mile. And I hate the map fog of VI. And slightly OT but can this realism be applied to the game as well?! I really dislike the addons for VI with vampires and the like and always have them switched off. The AI has enough trouble...
Well I know I won't be rushing to buy it on release as with pretty much ever itineration of Civ since III. Civ 6 simply wasn't properly ready for ages after release. They really should have a properly functioning game on release but that won't happen...
Huge / Marathon / Continents (one or the other), maybe Archipelago sometimes / no special modes / disaster level 1. Oh and I reduce the amount of Civ's to give everyone more space - those maps just aren't Huge enough for me. Ill take the City States down a bit too.
Dunno about that. I have come across barbarians destroying A.I. players even into the midgame - so much so in fact, that its ruining the game. If only the AI players could fight like the barbarians and the barbarians weren't so strong sometimes!
Oh I'm breaking Hammurabi in my latest Marathon/Huge game. But its not just me. The barbs are crazy in the current game. I can deal with them - the A.I. can't. There are quite a few free cities. Game's already over but its still fun!
And me. I hate Civ any other way. Always played Civ with these settings. Yeah its a long drawn out game but that's fine - in for a penny, in for a pound! :D
All these fantasy ideas just really don't appeal to me at all. Civ games are supposed to be based on history. By all means they can do a DLC Fantasy pack but keep the proper game as its always been.
I have had a bit of crashing lately - usually because of a lot going on late-ish game. A quick reload always solves the problem (thank god for autosave!) so its not a biggie.
I would have agreed with you about Civ 5 being better maybe a couple of years back but now - I couldn't go back to...
