Tried to go Sacred Sites, but the other religions took the last three religious buildings before I could get an enhanced religion. Sacred Sites might be good for early win, but I think it's quite luck-based.
I like the map for getting easy knowledge of all the civs' locations.
I just found a thread exactly about that topic:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=507024&highlight=deity
Quick summary:
If you think you can finish it before turn 80, do it.
If you are not that quick and there is another civ that wants Petra, they will usually finish it while...
In my 4th try I was able to get a t234 finish.
The cap position was quite funny, it combined desert hill with fresh water and one mountain like I've never seen before.
I was a bit unlucky with the CS, there was only one maritime CS, which sucked.
Combined with the relatively poor food cap it was...
@Cromagnus: The rules for tribute were (it's not what I see for me):
+100 for leading the demographics Soldiers scoreboard, then 2nd gets 100*#players-1/#players and so on
+100 for having 3x "the military" of the CS in the vicinity (which is within 5 tiles)
You can look it up somewhere, dont...
I tried an OCC-like style building up my cap building early wonders.
Later on, I settled two more cities in medieval age.
My Cap was very strong and honestly I thought the victory was fast.
Turn 277 is not as it seems.
So perhaps I should build more cities, most of you had around 5 cities...
Oh great Sun God, give me one more banana and I will pray to you!
PS: If you pick mystery, what happens to the map settings (world age, temperature, rainfall, sea level, Resources)?
I can't imagine that resources are randomized too.
3rd try with maya and I succeeded in t162.
I followed sadato's guide but instead of building pyramids I went for stonehenge, which imo makes more sense. In my last games I was easily able to steal one worker from CS and 1-2 from barb camps. That's all I need anyways.
Popped 2 musicians from...
1st try:
started with maya inland, which is in retrospect quite a big mistake.
My admiral from theology was put in a northern sea area near my cap.
Sadly it didn't have a connections to the oceans.
Actually I am not sure which settings are allowed for BnW.
About restrictions:
I am unabe to change #civ and #cs at all
No DLC allowed
I can live with the rest of the restrictions currently in place. I am just concerned about the direction in which the discussion seems to move.
I disagree with the direction many commentators want to move into.
The HoF should restrict people from as few submissions as possible.
My appeal to "the administration":
Don't restrict submission.
Use tailored filter to get the tables you want to use, especially the once giving prestige...
I finished this game in t265.
I also used Sacred Sites for the first time.
I will try to get a quick sacred sites win next.
The game was very fun to play, Kamehame on archipelago map and very stupid AI on this map makes this a easy walkthrough.
- What did you think of the new Culture VC?
Yeah...
I agree.
Some people are comparing hybrid to simultaneous moves, which I think is not fair.
Simultanueous has different game mechanics than the original games.
For me it is a no-brainer because I like to think in turn-based games and take my time.
Hybrid allows you to play relatively quick...
