OOC: We also request he not use such statistics as 90% of people. Only LH can determine the will of the people, as when this was tried in RP1 it led to the views of 99% of the population changing every minute. It would be even worse here, as this RP the opinion of the people actually matters. It will just confuse everybody. :OOC

@SouthernKing: I agree wholeheartedly with DT. In fact, if you continue to claim to know what the people want, and to make up stats that show what they want and approval ratings and such, LH will crack down on you like he did to people in RP1. Unless LH has given you HARD INFORMATION, do not make any statements concerning the will of the people. Of course, you can say merchants want money, so im going to build a market in so and so city should something like that happen, but not what you were trying to do. Thank you.

But those capitalists... those imperialists, or Horizonists, or whatever they would like to call themselves want to send your! children into battle for the sake of simple land. They will take your money in the name of "the greater good" and waste it on the lazy and feckless. They are willing to steal from good, hard working Americans to further their own interests.

Let me get this straight; you're making us appear bad because we're going to use war as a means for expansion, specifically you make the claiming of land seem inconsequential ("...for the sake of simple land."). Then you turn around and say that the fact that you will "give" your subjects land is a reason to vote for you. So which is it? Is land something to strive for or not?

Second point: we intend to expand our borders, yes. But we have never claimed that our first method of doing so is war. We strongly encourage good diplomatic relations with those small nations around us. Thus, your claim that your rule will be any more peaceful than ours is unfounded. We also realize that, while it is not a good thing in and of itself, war is sometimes the only way to gain land, which you seem to wish to do. Only by a rational and objective understanding of what needs to be done can good be done for the country.

Finally, to attempt to lead a country in which your primary aim is to avoid war will never end well. As Machiavelli writes in his book The Prince, "A prince ought to have no other aim or thought, nor select anything else for his study, than war and its rules and discipline; for this is the sole art that belongs to him who rules, and it is of such force that it not only upholds those who are born princes, but it often enables men to rise from a private station to that rank. And, on the contrary, it is seen that when princes have thought more of ease than of arms they have lost their states." Thus, only by leading a nation in such a way that you are prepared for war and know how to use it effectively with as little loss for maximum gain will you gain success. This is what we, as the Imperialist party, hold to.

Comrades, we have a diffucult time upon us. But I now we'll pull through. Our oppostion, the Horizons, have got what they think is a sure win. But I remind you don't belive them. We promise, peace and prosperity to land that is America. By securing our land, not some petty war with neighbors, we establish ourselves as powerful force. Coming with that is tenchonolgy acheivements. We also remind that the Philsophers are our allies, and will help make America the jewel that it should be. "Good morning, Mr. Joe Farmer and Mr. Daniel Miner. I'm Sonereal, member of the Imperialist Party and part of Horizon. There has been a lot of talk as of late from the communists. I'm sure they're repeating the same, tired lines. They talk of 'equality' and of 'prosperity'. Again, I don't not refute these claims. Under Communism, there will be equality and prosperity. You just won't see any of it. See, when a Communist speaks of 'equality', he just means that you, Mr. Farmer, are equal to Mr. Lazy. Does that strike you as fair, Mr. Farmer? Because no matter how hard you work, your surplus won't get you ahead. As a matter of fact, Mr. Lazy will see your surplus. You two will be equal. Any extra hard work you put into it will mean nothing.

So, where does prosperity come in? Enemies of Horizon call us 'militarists' but under the Communists, the military will become the centerpiece. They'll be fed at the expense of the farmer. Since they're so-called 'defenders of the Revolution', they'll get all the luxuries you, Mr. Miner, will never see. What's the difference between working fourteen hours hundreds of feet of rock under a Horizon government than a Red government? If you work hard, under Horizons, you can advance. This is America, Land of Opportunity. If you don't like the job, there is other venues possible. But the Communists? They'll tell you exactly what job you will have. They'll tell you exactly how much you will mine. You may think that mining more than that will earn you some kind of bonus but remember, you're equal to Mr. Lazy. You will never raise above your statues. Communism is code for an Economic Caste System. Once a miner, always a miner. Once a farmer, always a farmer. Not a hard working farmer, not a prosperous farmer, not a lazy farmer. Just another goddamn farmer in the eyes of the Communists.

America is the home of individualism, not collectivism. The American Dream is to raise through the ranks. Under Communism, you can't raise anywhere but in the political scene and even then, the oligarchs will have the power. Communism does nothing but stifle growth and what happens if you disagree with the Communists?

It does get to the point where the Communists, seeing the flaw in their ideology, attempt to seize power through the use of intimidation and political assassination. That is a fact. They would love nothing more than to make the voters watch over their shoulders when the voters go into the booth to vote.

Manifesto of the Horizon Coalition

America is a great country, the greatest in the world. Every man within it has a right to liberty and honor. Sagamore and Huey Ttlatloani, Hiwatha and Montezuma, the barbarians to the north, the Dakota in Suatio, all feel the spirit of Manifest Destiny. They trembled when America established New York, and they fear that we spread west of the missisipi. For they know that America will usurp them all.

The Horizon Coalition is what they fear. Our coalition wishes to fly the flag of America from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from sea to shining sea! An unbroken territory stretching the entirety of the vast continent of North America.

We wish to make the U.S.A. the supreme ruler of the lands in the America's, through the subjugation, annihilation, or manipulation of the Native American civilizations. The Aztecs and Iriquois will bow before America. This goal is part of the collective mission of Manifest Destiny!

The U.S.A. will be feared by all nations of the world! Each and everyone of them will observe it as the singular world superpower, and the only nation able to dominate the earth. Our ultimate goal is this scenario, that the U.S.A. be recognized as the pre-eminent power on earth, that english be spoken in every country, and the freedoms of democracy and liberty be spread to each end of the horizon.

To accomplish this, we beleive a neccesity is to explor the entirety of both North America and the South America we hear about from the Aztecs. We will find out if the rumoured civilzations of the Inca and Polynesians are there. We will explore the unkown and discover places man has never walked before in his short time on this world. Why? Because we are Americans! This land is our land!

The Dakota tribes currently dwelling in the city state of Suatio must be made to be freindly to Americans, to secure New York and any settlers sent west of the missisipi. Due to the millitaristic nature of this tribe an alliance with them will give us access to units of theirs which will greatly aid in the settlement and defense of the frontier.

The People's Party of America, which hitherto has slandered the Horizon Coalition as an aggresive war-party. It is not in entirety that, war is a means to an end. The end justifies the means. War is in the same tool shed as trade and diplomacy. The communnists do this to hide the fact they have no plans for america. They are stuck on an idealistic paradise of all being equal. That is not to say that that vision is not great, only that the party does not have the right means of doing that. They predict that a Communist government will eventually give way to an anarchic paradise. That in the meantime the Communist government will use a command economy, state property, and socialist ideas to strip the American people of their freedoms. They have already stated that they will not allow religion, denying one of the basic parts of the american code. They plan to strip your right to choose a job for yourself, to sell your own goods, and to live the American dream. They are a threat to society and the American Way!

In short, the Horizon Coalition supports any movement for the furtherment of America and its goals of spreading freedom to the world. The Horizon will not tolerate parties hindering that ultimate goal. Manifest Destiny will be completed as America spreads...

Yeah, but we have sailing so it isn't entirely out of the question to start looking into navies.

The point of the minister of the navy is to command existing naval forces, yes, but also to pettition the chief of staff with requests for more of a navy. If there is nobody to send in requests to the chief of staff, no navy will be created. Therefore, we need a minister of the navy.
