Fantasy NES: Sekai II (PreNES / OOC)

You already did. I didn't get an email through, so I didn't see until a few hours ago.

Assasin[/B]

noble family

psycopathy

new light.

She still lives with her family and stands to inherit since she has hidden her lack of emotions and manipualitve nature from notice through the veneer of civility and culture.

We'll be in touch.

Racial Preferences: Human / Goblin / Dwarves / Orcs / Elf

Probably not :p

Those preferences are only for the start of the story, and will have little bearing on if his guild gets along with you or not. Having mechanics for how players get along defies common sense. I prefer players to decide who they get along with based on how their characters would act. His racial preferences are for me to find polities close to what he wrote that would work well to host his main tavern. His preferences will have absolutely no impact on how well he gets along with your single character.

:)

Yeah but I thought it was fun to respond...that's why I added the :p

I'd like to get in on this but I'm going to hold off posting a submission to see what type of player you need.

To Adrogans: OK - just checking to make sure we are all on the same page.

Excellent, merciary. Well, there seem to be a fair number of characters at this point.

I was thinking of making a guild but I willing play as something else if you need it.

Another guild would be wonderful, if that is what you are interested in. Seon has posted the only guild at this point. I don't really have a quota of player types. I'd prefer players to play as what they are interested in.

@Seon
It's odd that I made the character so easy to fit in with you, cause like 90% of these new setup fantasy NESes I refuse to look at the rest of the thread until I created my nation/character first.

Yes. But if your character prefers dealing with her "problems" herself instead of seeking out some "assistance" from "highly trained professionals," there is always a way for you to "fit in." In a box, I mean.

Luxavo [Ravine] (Haseri)
People: 90% Dwarf / 10% Gnome / Goblin / Humans
Government: Monarchy
Ruler: Lord Dalkd Kavk
Livelihood: Trade, mining
Names: Alav [Iron], Akkakauv [Obsidian], Daur [Coal], Kark [Gold], Kaunavk [Diamond], Lokkdavo [Copper]
Description: Luxavo spans several natural splits in the earth, all but one of them underground, linked via minor tunnels.
It began as a disgraced noble family was thrown out of the mountain home. They could not step into any dwarven city ever again, but they didn't want to live out in the wild without solid stone over their heads. So they travelled until they found the first ravine, later called the Outer Rift. Explorations showed larger caverns much deeper in the ground.
The family changed its name to Kavk, and decided they would let everyone in. Word got out of the mineral wealth, bringing in dwarven emigrants. A small community of gnomes was found in a small cavern, who were given a minor place in the growing community.

Luxavo is somewhat of a permissive city, if only in the Outer Rift, where the non-dwarves live. As the product of generations of aggressively making Luxavo a trade hub for the region, anything and everything will eventually reach the city.
Non-dwarves are allowed underground, but they must abide by the more conservative rules of the dwarves. There is one chamber that only dwarves may enter, where their holy men reside, where it is a heresy for them to look upon a non-dwarf.
Preferred Location: Somewhere in the Adagans.

Spoiler Luxavo's Outer Rift, before the settlement :

I do plan on making it Minecraft, yes. That ravine is attached to at least two more as well as an abandoned mineshaft.

Interesting, Haseri. Thank you for your entry. I will put Luxavo somewhere in the Agadans.

Might as well post what I'm thinking of doing:

The Green Cloaks (merciary; Guild)
Racial Preferences:Human-Elf-Dwarf-Goblin-Orc
Trade: Training of both Mages and Sorcerers, Providing magi users for hire, magical research, providing general education for wealthy merchant families, some alchemy
Master: High Mage Athon
Description: The Green Cloaks were originally founded over a hundred years ago by the guild's first High Mage Emast the Farseeing and group of like minded mages who despised the apprenticeship style eduction that was used to train mages in their day. They felt that the Master mages were over protective of their work and refused to teach their apprentices what they actually knew in fear that they would be more powerful than themselves. This method also harmed any progress in the advancement of magic as mages would encode their work so no one else could learn their secrets and causing this knowledge to become lost with their death, creating an endless cycle of discovery-lost-rediscovery. To change this these mages created an institution that would train mages in a more open manner that encouraged curiosity and discovery. Any new of using magic would be recorded and taught to future students. This institution also provided an easy to access central location for all looking to higher a mage.
In the time of High Mage Torbis the Kind the Green Cloaks were in a desperate need for money. In an effort to raise funds the guild opened its doors to those wish for a basic education and could pay for it. This still fit well with its original purpose as the first part of a mage's training is a basic education. Many merchants have been educated by the guild and there are even a few Green Cloaks who acts as tutors in some noble courts Similarly Kium the Odd established an alchemy department to both raise funds and expand the guild's knowledge into other fields.
On occasion sorcerers have found their way to the Green Cloaks and are trained to control their powers.
Preferred Location: Any major city

That is interesting, merciary. I can make something very intriguing out of that.

Okay kkmo, I seriously have to properly invest in one of your NESes, I love the settings and I love the storytelling. I'm not sure I can come up with one story a day (Although it'd be a pretty good practice to do) but I want to note with this post that I am very interested, and I'm seriously into joining. I'll look into a single character this time. I hope to fight for a nation or something. :)

(Probably joining as a chaotic neutral human thief or something.)

It is a pleasure to have you aboard, lj. I am trying to stay away from alignments, but if you are offering that as a descriptor, it is quite alright. I really look forward to what kind of character you come up with. Hopefully we can get other Sekai veterans to join in, as well. I know bestshot is waiting until he is not as busy to post his proposal, and I am pretty sure Ninja Dude is going to be posting something.

Oh, I should mention - since there are so many character players at this point - that you do not have to give me a "class" that is listed on my list. You can easily say something else, i.e. monk, assassin, thief, whatever. You can even say blacksmith or store-keeper or homeless man or any other type of human being you can think of. Classes or occupations are good because I am thinking of this era in Sekai to be similar to late medieval/early Renaissance. That is, you would have typically begun working on "being" your class since an early age.

Just: do not feel restricted gameplay-wise.

I think my opening post is a bit too vague in terms of how much story-telling is needed. I certainly do not want players to do a-story-a-day! That would be way too much and the quality of stories would be awful (though, if you can do it, by all means!). Rather, if you want to actually do something, all I ask is that you post that you are doing that action and acknowledge that time is passing even when you are not actually posting. To this effect, a story written once a week is suitable, and it can recount the previous few game weeks. That is absolutely no problem. We all have lives, after all. You don't even have to post every day. You post when you want to, but you should tell us where you are now and what you are doing. I will help everyone out at the beginning and guide players to know what exactly is required of them. But I assure you, it is no more "work" than sending orders (and is, perhaps less work - and offers more rewarding results - because it is not centralized onto a single day in which orders are due and you will see what happens to you rather soon).

And that "action post" can be long and descriptive, or short and brief; I do want to avoid, "My character goes here." posts. At least covering who, what, when, where, why, and how would be nice. :)

The point is that we are in a free-flow game in which time passes and no updates occur. We weave a story simultaneously and I will drive it. I already have a lot of plot devices planned, but of course I will leave a lot of the intrigue up to you all.
