TerraNES: The Civil Experiment

Here's a hint:
Out marched the King in his armor
Out marched his generals and, Sound
Out comes the order, to war, to War!
To Bellevetum we are bound.

The Walls stand ever tall against our might.
The sea provides every need for their men
We have moved on to other fights
To each a barrel of ale, or ten.

@ Gem Hound: Welcome! I suppose I can assume you have a Matriarchial society and that that Carhaix is your nation's name?

@ TerrisH: I would eagerly await your application as well as a link to it's great predesessor. :)

@ All: Hey, Update 4 (after the next one) is gonna be a Bookkeeping update.
What does that mean? Well, I am going to update all the descriptions. That's some work! Here's how you can help a lot.
First, you can start by naming all the cities near your region. Try to match up with old names, but it doesn't need to or you can rename it. Remember, your nation is writing the history, call the Spartans Stupidspearians and I won't care (well, a little bit...), rename the Samnites AnnoyingTerrorists and so be it. I like how Stockholme basically reshaped his region so that it has a fresher flavor than "Unique Nation Kills Borning Realife Antedocete".
Second, after the update, you can write more lines of description about your nation as it stands now, and its basic geopolitical situation. No need for percision, but you want to capture the soul of your nation as it has changed from original. Eventually, I would use it to craft a new background.
Thirdly, you can do so for your neighbors. Be creative! The world is your Oysters, I'm just the hand making sure it doesn't pinch your hand when you let go of the shell to snatch the pearl (well, not too hard.;)).

Nope. Vorgium is the city.

Your Questions about the Great Queen have been answered:
Spoiler The Morrigan :
The Morrígan is a goddess of battle, strife, and fertility. Her name translates as 'Phantom Queen,' which is entirely appropriate for Her. The Morrígan appears as both a single goddess and a trio of goddesses, which includes the Badb 'Vulture' and Nemain 'Frenzy'. The Morrígan frequently appears in the ornithological guise of a hooded crow. She is one of the Tuatha De Danann (People of the Goddess Danu) and She helped defeat the Firbolgs at the First Battle of Magh Tuireadh and the Fomorii at the Second Battle of Mag Tured.
By some accounts, She is the consort of the Dagda, while the Badb and Nemain are sometimes listed as consorts of Néit, an obscure war god who is possibly Nuada the Sky Father in His warrior aspect. It is interesting to note that another battle goddess, Macha, is also associated with Nuada.

The Grand Raid of Wenefed
Spoiler First Map :

Gwynrach threw the last prisoner onto the stakes as King Cunneda walked up with his retinue. "Is the Great Queen still restless? Does she demand more sacrifice? I am curious." "The Morrigan is especially bloodthirsty today. She demands more sacrifice." Gwynrach replied. "Then we shall raid the Wenefed! We will not stop until her thirst is satiated. Warriors! We shall go on a vike!"

The Osismii raiders were relentless as they sacked the villages of the Wenefed. Over many days, the land of Wenefed was swallowed up, a quarter of the people having been given as sacrifices to The Morrigan.

The surrender of the Koriosolites
Spoiler 30 Years Later :
PwTrG.png

The Old king Cunneda stood on the palisade as the scouts came back to report the recent movements of the Koriosolites. "My king. King Vortimer is weak. If we don't take his kingdom under our rule now, Namneted and Riedoned will."

"Gwenhwyvach, does the Morrigan demand blood?" "No my lord." the female druid responded. Cunneda went to his manor and went to the altar and prayed to Aeron, the god of war and strife. He left the manor to find that his group of warriors had assembled in the town center. "My warriors! It has been a long time since we performed a real raid! lets us do so again!" The warriors cheered and the war began.

The people of Koriosolited didn't fight back. King Vortimer capitulated to King Cunneda. There were better relations between the Koriosolites and the Osismii and they would rather be ruled by the Osismii instead of their other neighbors.

Joining as: Axum
Capital: Axum

Trade along the Nile had always been important. Ever since boats were invente, the communities that lived off of the Nile's riches have traded with one another. It is out of trade that Axum grew. The power of Egypt in the North sought after the exotic reources of the south, while the south needed the food from the North. Axum was born from this trade.

Just for your info. Real Aksum is a little more to the north and coast.

If you are interested in being my neighbor do note that my conquering intentions are varying from all out conquering to peaceful coexistence depending on the king and dynasty. Also I believe we will be a bit too far for trade for some updates since the Nile may be one, but Nubian raiders are in the way...

Other than that. Where is me update :(

good point, but we will have to live with a misplaced Axum. As long as you do not attack our trading kingdom, we will be happy to continue peacful coexistance. Also, we would be happy to moderate peace between Egypt and Nubia if both sides wish for peace. (starting next year: we need the map)

The Known World - Anorian year 103 records

While there were no known painted maps, this map have been reconstructed from the records
attachment.php

On the year 103 an Egyptian priest called Rezos have written a description of the known world according to Egyptian knowledge. We bring you here a reconstruction and more importantly a description of the knowledge of Egypt at the time.

Most of the Northern Nile has been united for several decades now under the Anorian rule. To the south much of the Nile was either completely unknown or occupied by apparently hostile forces.

Canaan - Lands of Others
While Egyptian records of Canaan at the time were few, the construction showed the area was dominated by a vast number of small city states vying for power, not unlike Egypt just a century ago. The people there spoke early Canaanite and Egyptian power did not reach deeply into those lands nor did its influence. Records of Egyptian raids to northern Sinai are known, but not far further than that. The mines at Timna in southern Sinai were still unknown to the Egyptian Kings at this time.

Libya - Land of Thieves
Libya was a vast stretch of desert land west of Egypt. Around the time of Osirion the tribes in the area begun to unite around major water sources and oasis in the area. By the time of Nafer the Libyans have grown into a strong and disturbing force at the side of Egypt. While still no more than semi unified tribal confederacies, these Libyans were a constantly raiding force on the outreaches of western Egypt and the Delta. At times they were known to threaten even the capital at Anor itself. The Egyptian kings apparently saw the Libyans as no more than a nuisance and usually fought them inside their own territory, not daring to go far into the desert. While not going out to attack around the time of Nafer the Egyptians knew very well of the locations of most of the Oasis and major Libyan raiding tribes. Some trade also begun with more peaceful tribes and towns and on the coast of the great sea naval trade also appeared to go strong.

Nubia - Land of False Kings
The Nubians were already well known to the Anorian throne. Part of the reasons for the successful and quick unification was a proposal of aid to the town of Aswan against Nubian raiders. By the time of Nahan Ra the Nubians were already developing into city states in control of vast lands, and kings ruling those cities. Kings that were very similar to the Egyptian one. The kings of Nubia claimed to achieve kingship with the aid of the gods or by being actual gods. Other deeפ Egyptian cultural influences arrived at Nubia, some of the more disturbing ones was the code of unification. The code of unification was what the Egyptian kings of Anor's second dynasty held in deep regard and it was their faith that they are to unite the world under their feet. When Nubian kings begun to believe this about themselves, deeper problems than raiding appeared. Both Nahan Ra and his son Nafer constantly raided and invaded Nubia in an attempt to quell the rising city states, but some did rise and had power to stand an Egyptian army.

Aksium - Land of Rare Luxuries
When the first traders of Axium appeared beyond the Nubian borders and met with Egyptian generals and traded with them, they were believed to be slaves of the Nubians that attempted release by moving from place to place to trade. Later it was understood that Aksium was a land further up the Nile that was also a united people with their own special culture (that already begun to be influenced by Egypt). The Nubians traded with the people of Aksium as well and they succeed in passing through Nubian held land to trade even as far north as Aswan and by the time of Nahan Ra some even achieved to open trade in Thebes, usually by using Egyptian shipping. The goods of Axium were highly regarded among the Egyptian nobility and were sought after by them. Nahan Ra had vast numbers of Axium goods buried with him in his brand new pyramid. Axium trade strehgneed through the ages and in order to surpass Nubian raiders and thieves a small but constant route through the eastern desert was found for trade between Aswan and Aksium. King Nafer showed interest in conquering Aksium but never was able to find a route for conquest and scrapped such ideas early on in favor of a war against Nubia.

Egypt - Land of Gods
Egypt, the jewel of the Nile. Forever was and will be the most powerful and wonderful empire to hold and unite the Nile. The second dynasty of Anor had a powerful grip over Egypt at this time and were not about to give it up. Pyramids were built and kings ruled supreme. From the small city of Anor the kings of Egypt quickly conquered Aysut as a jump rope to Thebes and the rest of Egypt. A quick unification was achieved under the rule of Osirion of the first dynasty and this control never waned. Egypt is now the most powerful state in the world, and its future is to only grow further. Raids into Nubia and Canaan trained the armies and united the people. Wars against Nubian city states gave the kings propaganda of fear for convincing the people of their godhood. Trade with the northern Libyans, the coastal Canaanites and far away Axians brought many more riches. Egypt was and is truly, the land of the gods.

Got almost everything finished up, just trying to figure out how to do a map like GemHound did, only showing the different provinces of my nation.

Take the main map, draw a black line around the area you want, crop the image, and blackout everything outside of the wanted area. That's what I did.

Orders: Build as many warriors as possible.

Ah, thank you GemHound.

EDIT: More like the very first map really, highly detailed one... from wikimedia right?

The first one that only has Armorica on it? I didn't make that. I got it from Wikipedia. Look up Armorica on Google search. It should be on the page of the first link.

The map of the known Vallarvalian world is indeed a small one. The cities have all been named after a large amount of waiting and debating among the people of upper echelons of governmental power, but they have all finally been named. To the South of Vallarvale is the nation of Samnia with the blasted rebel Samnites holding out strong and fast, hopefully to be shattered by General Sylman the Strong. To the north is the nation of Ctyria past disorganized barbarian tribals. The war between Ctyria and Vallarvale has been halted if Ctyria would agree to it; King Sarklov the Second wishes for no more bloodshed to occur between their two fair nations.

To the farther south is the nation of Southronn as the Sarkovians call it. No one knows the true name, and they will always be Southronns in the eyes of the people of Sarkovia. King Sarklov the Second is interested heavily in opening up vital trade routes between the two nations as an offer of peace, though many in the government are a bit skeptical of it. To the northwest is the final unknown nation and the rest of the continent. The little city state of Hvernshlov is an odd fixture on this part of the peninsula.

OOC: Will edit in a newer description on the front page if it is alright with you Terrance.
