Earth, 1000 AD - A Historical PBEM

The Mongolian Horde - Mongols victory condition

The Mongolians were known as being the ultimate barbarians, raiding and pillaging, generally terrorizing most of Asia during their height. In what is most likely the most difficult victory condition, recreate the Mongolian horde and terrorize Asia. To win you must defeat Russia, China, Korea, and Khmer. Just a reminder: this civ starts with an army and 1 settler in Mongolia, thats it.

I played before this . Mogol-Turk invasion are very important for the history, i prefer like Turk's invasion to Anatolia, but it is really really difficult, because ever country are clashing in Middle Eastern like real history

Another bad thing is economy balance for the Chengis Khan.

This isn't RFC or anything, so any battling in the middle east will only be to the extent humans make it happen... or I guess the AI goes to war. But we wont have any civs spawning and history may not necessarily repeat at all.

That being said - the Mongols are truly the biggest challenge of all the civs, based solely on the first (and hidden second) victory condition. They will also be tons of fun though!

edit: would you like to play?

Which diffuculty do you play? I will try immortal.

You do realize that this is a multiplayer PBEM game, right? its not a single player challenge...

Anyway, I'm currently able to beat Prince regularly, havent tried anything higher yet.

Byzantium Used to be Rome! - Byzantine victory condition

Similar to the Arabian caliphate, the Byzantine empire is pretty much at its height at the start of this scenario. The Byzantine empire is the true successor to the former classical Roman Empire, in that its decendant from the Eastern half of the Roman Empire when it was split. The real Byzantine empire faded in real life, but in this scenario your goal will be to recreate the glory of the old Roman Empire!

To win an Byzantium, you must own the same lands as the former classical Roman Empire, including: modern day Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Iraq, Egypt, north Africa / Libya and at least 1 city on the British Isles and hold these lands anytime after 1800 AD.

Victory Condition, part 2: The classical Romans never could control the Gauls. Do them one better by also taking over modern day Germany. Also own every single holy city.

The Chinese Communist Powerhouse - Chinese victory condition

China has survived over the years as led by various lords, fighting multiple civil wars, as well as wars with its neighbors. In the modern age, China has become a world power, even in its socialist-communist hybrid state. To win as China you must: Defeat the Mongols, and survive with an empire at least as large as modern day China until the year 1900 AD.

Victory Condition, part 2: You start out pretty well in this game. Survival is the key. However you must do it without ever running the following civics: Free Religion, Free Speech, Free Market. Also, today China owns most of the public bonds issued by world powers throughout the world. Build up a treasury of 50,000 gold to show us your investment skills...

Stop those European Invaders! Part 2 - Incans victory condition

The story of the Incans is similar to that of the Aztecs. As such, the victory condition is similar. You must control the entire continent of South and Central America, your culture must cover the entire continent, south into the tundra and as far north as modern day Mexico. That's right, there is some overlap with the Aztecs, central America will be a battleground!

Victory Condition, part 2: Not only must you defend your shores and prevent anhiliation of your civilization, but you must turn the tables on the Europeans! You also must invade and burn 2 cities on the mainland of Europe!

The Northern Norsern Invaders - Viking victory condition

The Vikings are traditionally known for being fearsome invaders and pillagers in northern-most Europe. Another little known fact is that they may have actually been the first Europeans in the New World. Eventually the Vikings settled down and became the Scandenavian people of today. But don't let your Viking culture be forgotten by humanity! To win as the Vikings, you must control all of the Scandanavian peninsula, your capital on mainland Europe, the British Isles, Iceland, 1 city on Greenland, and 3 cities in North America.

Victory Condition, part 2: The Vikings were also traders, so show off your wealth by accumulating 25,000 gold

The French Enlightenment - French victory condition

The biggest story about France in the history books its the French Enlightenment. In order to simulate this, we have another easy, peaceful victory: win a cultural victory. You will already start with your 3 cities!

Victory Condition, part 2: ???????

The Khmer... - Khmer victory condition

The Khmer were a strange folk residing in current day Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. I don't know much about them, nor care to know, so they shall be henceforth known as the strange and mysterious people. To win as the Khmer, you must own all of modern day Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as owning the Ankor Wat, and survive until 1900 AD.

Victory Condition, part 2: ??????

The Spanish Conquistadors - Spanish victory condition

Spain is most famous for being ruler of the seas, "discovering" the New World and essentially slaughtering the local natives to America. The Spanish colonies ultimately became their own countries in America, the empire did not survive that large magnitude. But you can do better! To win as Spain, you must control modern day Spain and at least 2 cities in North Africa, as well as 5 cities in each of North and South America.

Victory Condition, part 2: Isabella loves her Christianity! All of Spain's cities must be Christian, and you must convert at least 2 of your neighbors to Christianity and own the Apolistic Palace...

I'm interested but am betwixt 3 opinions of who I want to play. I am not as advanced a player as some of you seem to be. But I would like to give it a go and do my best.

It's never too late to learn on the fly! Glad to have you, just let me know your selection when you are ready... all initial victory conditions are now posted.

Edit: it is going to be a very war-heavy game, so at the very least you will learn a few things!

Hi,
I really would like to join the fun. If you dont mind accepting first-time pbemer.
As a temporary Copenhagener I feel obliged to select Vikings.

Question: Do islands count for my goal? For instance, would Havanna count as a City in North America?

Question: Do islands count for my goal? For instance, would Havanna count as a City in North America?

Yeah I'd be fine counting that. Every piece of land on the map has to be considered some sort of continent, so if it has to be something it would be N.A.

That being said, I realize some of these "goals" are a little wishy washy with borders and whatnot. I'm willing to be flexible and think everyone else should too, we will all be able to tell when someone has won, there's no need to argue over any technicalities. majority rules, if most people agree you've accomplished your goal, then we should be fine. Of course on Epic speed, even starting at the halfway point, we are still looking at 300-450 turns for most of these victory conditions, plenty of game to be played.
