Building Granary instead of Lighthouse in YellowDot.

Ran spy specialists if no other specialists available and no developed tiles to work.
Did not whip forges because of GA.
Forgot to Pause before saving.

End of turn, turn 120. Worker5 hasn't moved. He should probably go 2E to help build plantation. Might want to whip forges this turn or next.
Plenty of Happiness.
Don't forget to convert to Buddhism before end of turn.

edit3: meant to mention (you can see it in the save): Get a GS and learn Optics at end of turn.
Nothing noteworthy to report from exploration so far - you can look at save.

Great Job by Chris providing all the reference information on first page of our thread.
Spoiler :
I will spare you the details.

edit, OH, I need to clean out the old information - it includes both (all 3) of my turnsets. When I posted it the other day, I deleted months of stuff from it.
edit2 - Buffy Log doesn't seem to include Open Border diplo actions

(Just taunting... :satan: It looks like you guys are accomplishing your objectives.:goodjob:)

We are rocking it.

Nicely played Deckhand!

Looking at the save:
- the ocean to the west looks like a dead end, the chariot will need to explore this.
- Is a caravel/explorer combo required? Hopefully chariot above will answer this.
- we could do with a round of whipping, almost everywhere.
- We need mostly Rathaus', Libraries, Markets & missionaries next in about that order.
- After that, cities will only really need Barracks & Banks.
- Or we could whip out a bunch of units and start attacking Mansa/Qin/Sury, the latter 2 before they get Longbows.
- We will probably need 3-4 galleys/galleons to ferry troops for the rest of the game.

Once the golden age is finished, our tech rate will rely very heavily on the number of specialists we can maintain. So whipping out an army will cost our research rate.

We want the basics Infra package in every city: Granary, Rathaus, (Lighthouse), Barracks
We want food rich cities (which is most of them actually) the buildings that allow us to work the specialists: Forge, Lib, Market, Temples.

Tech wise:
2 short term targets are CS (for Beauro, chained irrigation & Mace's) and Engineering (Trebs, Pikes & road movement).

- we could do with a round of whipping, almost everywhere.
Agree. I think we should wait until next turn to get the GA boni at the end of this turn. I presume we do our production and research (I forget the order) and then the GA ends. Perhaps do some micro to prevent 2 pop whips becoming 1 pop whips.

Yes, we still get 1 turn of the bonus on our production, gold & GPP so we might as well maximise that for 1 more turn.

Though a few micro things need to be done this turn:

- Aachen, whip in 2 turns -> Market
- Phantastic, next turn assign engineer from growth -> buddhist mish
- Pork Central, riverside grass to marble. Whip Forge next turn -> buddhist mish.
- Supercity, bananas to merchant/spy, whip Forge next turn -> buddhist mish.
- Iron city, whip forge this turn -> explorer ?
- Silver city, whip forge this turn -> caravel ?
- Sydney, take rice from Yellow Dot, Forge -> Lighthouse
- Alcatraz, Rathaus -> Forge (no whipping)
- Djenne, growth onto the east most cottage, then specialists
- Walata, give the Marble back to Pork Central, whip Granary this turn -> Rathaus

Worker 2 is building a cottage on some bananas! He need to irrigate next to the rice.

Sorry, this is starting to look like a PPP. I'll stop now. :)

We need 5 buddhist missionaries, including to the island Alcatraz, we can whip out some forges and use O/F for a few missionaries while growing back.

Having had a close look at the map, the west sea is a puddle, but there is a mountain with jungle (which means it was definitely world buildered in) on the coast, which if it continues south would block Qin. There is a grassland tile to the west that we can see.
Spoiler :

It all looks so world buildered, with the coast tiles changed to sea to block galleys and jungle having mountains put on top of them. It's hard not to conclude that there is something there, a secret passage, or a trap to waste time.

We have spent the beakers getting Optics, so we have to build a Caravel and exploring unit, our scout is dead (when did that happen, I can't remember). I can honestly say that I don't recall ever building an explorer before.

Another option to a Caravel/Explorer is to build a city on the Qin coast, claim the gold and all of the ocean tiles (after a border pop) within our culture.

Then our galley can carry a chariot.

edit: and gold would give +2 happiness to nearly all of our cities

:goodjob: Good work Deckhand

Looks like Khmer, Toku, and Mansa either already have LBs or will have LBs and Mace by the time we get an army put together. Leaves Qin who looks like he could be taken.

Alternatively, if we flip back to Buddhism and can get Mansa to trade CS (or Music) for Mach + Optics we can head for Cuirs, whip out about 30 and invade the south. Can leave Mansa alone for trading while we conquer the south. The culture barrier should keep Mansa separated from the rest.

Another option to a Caravel/Explorer is to build a city on the Qin coast, claim the gold and all of the ocean tiles (after a border pop) within our culture.

Then our galley can carry a chariot.

edit: and gold would give +2 happiness to nearly all of our cities

Happiness does not appear a limiting factor at the moment. With forge and mkt we are at +19 :crazyeye: Just look at Phantastic. The key decision I think, is what type of army do we want. Mace/Treb or Cuirs? And who to attack.

Great job Deckhand!

I just noticed my roster is way out of date.

Revent - if you want to play you can take the next turnset, or be skipped if you want to catch up on things.

Benginal! - Are you around? If no one else is prepared, I think we should switch Neil and Chris with neilmeister up next.

edit: and gold would give +2 happiness to nearly all of our cities

I like the idea of establishing a beachhead in the south. A gold mine might not be needed for happiness, but it would help offset the cost of expansion.

Revent is back and hasn't had a turn set. Just saying.

I have a hard time predicting what we will need without knowing who the two AI west of the mountains are or what they might be up to. If our economy can afford it, let's sweep up the southern AI now. They are never going to have enough tech to be really interesting trading partners. That's what Mansa is for.

Yeah, it kind of depends what we are going to do next, as SH mentioned, happiness is not an immediate problem.

If we are going to war against Qin next, and that looks like it could be done with our current units of Cats, Swords & Axes. We should maybe change our EP's to Qin so we can see his graphs.

If there is food up there somewhere then the gold city would be more viable.

Yes, I agree with this!

OK - yes, better to capture a city than build a settler. If we want to have any chance at a laurel, we probably need to continue the conquest sooner rather than later.

Yes, the conquest needs to begin in earnest rather soon.

In previous games, we are almost at the point where the Ducks turned teching off. But, with conquest the sole VC that doesn't feel right for this game. With Immortal opponents, several we haven't even met yet, what units will suffice?
Trebs/X-Bows like the Ducks do every time?
Infantry/Tanks?
...or worse?

In the meantime however, back to our immediate goals.
We have set ourselves up very nicely for sustained teching.... Food, Mids, Parthenon, GLib & NE.
A lot of our cities have the bulk of the required infra and we can overflow whip the rest while getting an army (mainly from whipping Cats & Gallies).

I would like the current O/F from Forges to go into enough missionaries to have most of our cities buddhist. The cities that need the +25% are all newish ones, whereas most of the cities with buddhism will be building units very soon.
