America: Write Your Own History

More communist slander! Does the Workers' Daily even think to consider the people who died? Why would you attempt to place blame for such a tragedy? It was an accident, the result of inferior materials. I had a good friend in Croton; we were the best of friends in college. Now you attempt to plant conspiracy theories at his demise, and the demise of hundreds of others? Pitiful. Just pitiful.

-Logan Whitmeyer, Mayor of Albany, New York.

OOC: The real Croton Dam was built from 1892 to 1906. Interestingly enough, however, there were labor strikes during its construction.

All men who love America, rise up and strike against the Communists. Free America from their grasp!
LET THE ANTI-REVOLUTION BEGIN!

at last! the revolution has begun!

Ugh, you miss a week and you have no idea what is going on. Which page did I leave off on? I think it was in the forties...

Labor Outsourcing Rises, Economy Crumbles in response to Foster's Election

In response to the election of the evil megalomaniac communist Foster, the economy has plummeted as business leaders across America have began to outsource all of their labor and move all corporate assets to Swiss banks. This is caused by the proven-fatal command economy that the evil Foster will cause to happen. As the corporations leave America, and are being replaced by more inefficient, communal factories and businesses, it is clear that America will collapse and crumble like England and Russia have before it, as America's democracy will be overthrown into an evil communist dictatorship and the nation will fall into civil war. The few manufacturers who haven't left America are planning a mass protest movement, with the more radical owners considering starting a civil war to reclaim America or assassinate the President, saying "We will give back what you gave to Wilson!" Stocks have plummeted and profits have dropped by record increments, and it is clear that Foster's presidency will destroy America.

Moderate Senator T. Renzo Trevisan (Moderate Socialist) dies from Heart Attack during Speech

Senator T. Renzo Trevisan (Moderate Socialist, NJ) suffered a heart attack this morning at 10:43 in Washington while in the middle of a speech denouncing radicalism of both sides. He was quickly brought into a nearby hospital, where he died roughly half an hour later at the age of 81. The entire Senate stopped the debate to accompany Mr. Trevisan into the hospital, and even his most diametrically opposed enemies wept at his passing. His last words were reported to have been "we must work together or destroy our great nation from within." He was a renowned orator and moderate, speaking out against radicalism and encouraging compromise. A eulogy will be delivered this evening by his son, Representative T. Renzo Lancelot Trevisan, who is also favored to win the senate vacancy left by his father's passing.

Capitalists conspire against the government
Following the election of the first communist president Foster, capitalists launch anti-government campaigns. The formerly advantaged social group resorts even to illegal means, conspiring to assassinate the president and plotting to imprison communist activists.

Newly-established capitalist paper of New York Tribune aims to spread panic across the nation. A slanderous column on the impact of Foster's presidency describes, in fact, the capitalists' own traitorous actions: transferring their unfairly earned money to foreign financial institutions (listing "Swiss banks", whereas there clearly is no such country in the world), relocating jobs to poorer areas outside the US to avoid paying American workers what they really deserve.

New York Tribune's columnist Michael Philip, be it a nickname or his real name, goes on to state an imminent civil war will be lead by the former oppressing class, aiming to overthrow the rightfully elected president. How long will such criminal declarations be accepted in our society? When will the federal government finally deal with the rebellious capitalists?

The President's Bodyguards!

In light of recent panic due to his election, President William Z. Foster expands his system of bodyguards to be both visibly around him and hidden in the crowds to protect him from assassins.

OOC: How do I make my words bigger?

i love how everyone is freaking out even though foster has done a single thing yet :D

Americans were the first to discover communism, it took them over one hundred years to switch to communism.

OOC: This situation would be perfect for a NES. I think I might ditch my current NES to start a new one either starting in the election of 1916 or the election of 1928.

Also, the anti-communist page was an Op Ed, so it is subject to the biases of the writer, unlike most newspaper articles, and I kind of wanted to show both sides of the spectrum there. The notice that Senator T. Renzo Trevisan had died was there to show that the newspaper isn't biased and also to give me the opportunity to write an awesome speech on the stance of MODERATION and not RADICALISM, despite how difficult it is to be a radical moderate.

It was street battles, violent strikes and mass mobilizations that brought Wilson to his heels. We shouldn't give up on this. I say we do both. In any case the communists never went back on elections. We're not anarchists :p . We believe in fighting with whatever weapon is there in our hands, elections are one weapon. We can use it to expose the capitalists as well as try to take power directly. Yes Socialists and Communists must unite, but on what basis ? if the Socialists go soft on the capitalists and prevent more radical reforms then we have something to fight over. We can form a united front for the elections though and a consensus candidate. But a lasting unity would require something more fundamental.

In the meanwhile, the main campaigner of the American Communist Party adhiraj.bose has raised a mass rally in Chicago with factory workers and students to mark the withdrawal of the anti-radical bill. A record one hundred thousand came to the rally despite the heavy rains. There he openly threatened America with civil war should the government decide to go to war with Germany. Likewise should America's government try to force another non-capitalist nation to adopt capitalist civics, we will call nationwide protests and seal off the cities ! The days following this saw more mass rallies as a show of force by America's communists.

Woodrow Wilson shot! Survives!

Following a string of communist attacks and protests, Woodrow Wilson was shot while in Hawaii in June. One bullet went through his left arm, while the other went through his left hip. The incident has left the president paralyzed on his left side, leading to a reduction in public appearances. The Democratic Party has been infuriated by the terrorism of the far left, and has been pushing to increase military presence in cities to reduce squalor. Reaction from the incident has led to a polarization in the Democratic Party, with the party splitting between a more conservative faction, the Hardings, and the more liberal faction, the Wilsonians.

Wilsonians, and the president, have agreed to lift the antiradical bill in order to reduce riots. The Hardings, however, see this as a step in the wrong direction, and aim to block it in congress.

Just saying, you guys are guilty of exactly the same thing some of the more radical rightists are saying.

Slander and baseless propaganda! If John Adams or George Washington were alive today, they would advocate the Second American Revolution! All patriotic Americans must rise up and strike against the Communists!

OOC: @mrrandomplayer: I'm looking to get into NES. It'd like to do that.

I am planning on making a NES starting in either the election of 1916 or the very tense election of 1928. I will probably drop my current NES for the time being to start this one. Tell me if you're interested, and whether you'd have it start at:

1. Just before the 1916 election, which pitted Woodrow Wilson vs. Alfred Reimer and a few other candidates. There was even voter fraud (people created fake accounts to vote for the communists).
2. Just after the 1916 election, where communists threatened civil war and tried to assassinate Wilson.
3. Just before the 1928 election, which pitted the current president Stanley Bruce vs. William McKenzie King vs. communist William Z. Foster vs. democrat Al Hull.
4. just after the 1928 election, where the last-minute entry of Irish socialist Conolly tipped the balance in favor of the communists, and now capitalists are threatening civil war and assassinations on Foster.
