Civilization series has a great music. Civ4 has a great soundtrack - at least starting with medieval era. Ancient era sounds boring and repetetive. Classical era is MIDI for some reason, same goes for leader screens. But then you get choruses, Barocco classics, modern minimalism.

Civ5 goes more interesting way with adding regional music. Meaning not just European. I still like European music more. Native American stuff may sound ok, but it's not as good as Dvorak.

The first question is: for some reason music from Civ4 sounds worse than music from Civ5. Both soundtracks were mostly recorded live. Both are kept in modern audio formats. Why does Civ5 OST sound better? Is this a subjective feeling?

The second question: can anybody tell me why Polycast only uses Civ4 OST? Is there some of consensus on what OST is better?

The third question: does anyone really play Civ4 long enough to hear "The people are the heroes now"? I've memorised every song from Classic era yeat I haven't even heard this piece before listening to Polycast.
