COTM 16 Second Spoiler - Industrial Ages, World Map

PaperBeetle said:
A bit like the Ancient Spoilers, this thread seems to have turned into a group therapy session for the space racers. Well, Redbad, Zeepsel and Shigella; thanks for sharing your pain with the group. And Megalou; :p to you! Maybe we didn't want the fastest spaceship award anyway
Ah, I guess it's my turn to tell my story.

<PaperBeetle stands up and nervously clears his throat>

"Hello, my name is PaperBeetle ... and I am going for a spaceship victory."

<Muted applause and nods of sympathy from the other group members>

...

<PaperBeetle falls silent. The other group members have all fallen asleep. One wakes with a start, looks around, and without saying anything, leaves the room to go to the toilet. PaperBeetle sits down again.>

Be it as you say, it certainly makes for a great read!

Ancient Age
Endgame

The Republic and the Golden Age
I forgot to mention in my Ancient Age report that Swazi was founded in 230BC and Tugela in 90BC. In 30AD Umtata is founded. Tlaxcala flips back to the Aztecs in 70. Umfolozi is built in 110. We learn republic in 150 and revolt. A suicide run fails, and we form the republic in 250. Our treaty with the Aztecs expires in 320 so we go to war again. We take slaves outside Tlatelolco, while building Ibabanago. Next turn we get a leader while taking Tlatelolco. We form an AC army in 340 and take back Tlaxcala the following turn. Aztecs send a jag against us, so I sic an Impi on him, kicking off the GA.

The Second Continent
A suicide galley finally makes it to Carthage in 380, as Tenochtitlan falls to us. Next turn we learn Mono. Incas won't trade us feud. Aztecs have placed their cities badly. We sail on and find the Turks to the north. We trade them mono for engineer+46+2gpt. We use the money to open an embassy. Incas still won't trade. In 400 we take Teotihuacan and kick the Aztecs off the mainland. In 430 we contact Babylon. They are quite backward. We learn feud in 450, go for chiv so we can get templars. Isipezi is built in 460, and Amatikulu the following turn to claim the spice. We learn chiv in 510, start theo. Unfortunately the Turks and Carthage also have chiv. Next turn we meet the English, they are 10 turns from Leonardo.

The West Coast Offens(iv)e
In 530 we launch an assault on Incas' west coast cities. The army takes Andahuaylas. Next turn Ulundi finishes the FP. The Turks finish Templar. I suppose I could've had Ulundi switch, but it's ok. Maces take Nasca. We find a long inlet between Babylon and England and check to see if it's a strait. The GA ends in 550. We lose Ibabanago, but take it right back. We land on the offshore island which holds two Aztec cities. Tzintzuntzen conquered in 560 as we learn theo. Next turn we take Vilcabamba while losing Isandhlwana. The war turns disastrous in 590 when we lose the army, so in 600 we make peace, trading theo for invent+slave. In 640 we take Malinalco and that's all for the Aztecs.

Am I Evil?
In 670 we learn ed, trade it for guns. We have 2 saltpeter and the Incas have 1 near the border. Next turn, Zimbabwe finishes the Epic. Zunguin is built in 720. Learn astro in 790, trade to Incas along with 20 for chem. In 810 declare war on Babylon, landing 3 galleys full of troops outside Akkad. Next turn we take it intact with rax and harbor. Those morons built it on a wheat. Babylon sues for peace in 850, paying 20 + 8gpt. We then trade maps around with Carthage, Turks, and England, even getting gold for it. In 900, Incas declare war on Carthage and try to take Rusicade. Seeing an opportunity, I take back Isandhlwana, getting slaves and moving on Isa. Incas send a stack of 7 to take it back but we hold, while Ica falls. Harare built on offshore isle. War weariness sets in quickly, so we make peace, getting PP in 940.

Horsing Around
We trade Carthage econ and PP for horses and Nav in 950. We get physics from Turkey for spice, WM, econ, 23 + 5gpt. We get metal from England for econ, spice, and incense. We trade chem to Japan for music + WM. We see that England has found some towns far to the west. Looks like a third continent. We upgrade our galleys to caravels and in 1010 discover Military, so we start cranking out the cavs. In 1030 Carthage takes Arequipa from the Incas.

Perfidious Albion
England sneaks us in 1040. We bribe the Incas with spice to declare on them in 1060. Next turn we build Bulawayo in the new lands on top of saltpeter, but lose Akkad the following turn. We also hear of barbarian uprisings near Bulawayo. Rusicade finally falls to the Inca in 1090. Turks extort some gold, but we have more. In 1100 I am set to take Akkad back, but England has a galley escorted by 2 menowar heading our way, so I keep 'em home. England drops off a cav west of Tenochtitlan in 1120, which is easily deal with. We learn magnets in 1150 and enter the Industrial Age.
