PH11: Hypermegaglobalnet

The a-top marble spot looks promising in terms of prod, though it has too much deserts.
North tundra cow-fur city has some nice wooden hills to be worked out...

Hope you'll get as much luck as I did tomorrow :)

T62
Clifton Curver Troy (what MOD are you using Pholk for these names?)
That's BUG. I'm using the Advanced Unit Naming system :D

The warrior's real name, in the ancient era, should be: "Clifton Curver Troy's Warriors" but that's too long :( now, in the ancient era, I just call them by their City's name :yup: I've been toying with different era names for all my units. It's a lot of fun, and gives the impression of the passage of time to my armies.

enough plugging the mod. Maybe that desert NW of DC might be nice for production. we need to find 2 good prod sites for those wonder cities. also, could we chop the pyramids if we settled west of DC by those fish and silks??

I'd put the Settler down by the cows and fur. Extra happiness early on is never a bad thing. Plus I'm sure we could use the extra commerce from those furs to fuel our research. True, its not a great site long term, but the short term benefits IMHO would be worth it.

Edit: On second thought, it looks like there won't be enough food to work the furs. Bummer. This sure is a food poor map!

good turns, though your choice on the health event was :smoke: don't you remember what ruff said about that one ~ those extra health only last as long as your unhappy faces!
Is that a bug? An extra +2 health to go along with -2 happiness? That doesn't make any sense unless the health is permanent.

But where to put them?... in capitol looks better but it looks to be the only decent place on this island... the GE poits will be overerridden fast
I would vote for the capital, as well, for the Pyramids. But why would the GE points get overridden? I'm probably missing something somewhere ... As long as we don't build any non-GE wonders in the city until we have our 2 GE's, I would think it would be OK.

P.S It looks like another isolated game.... the RNG really doesn't like me
With 6 continents, I would have expected it to be an isolated start. And since our variant requires us to circumnavigate the globe, it gives us an extra incentive to get some Caravels in the water and meet those other civs!

1 ~ i think, by irrigating around that SE lake and the cows for now would give us enough to work the furs and a couple grass hills.
2 ~ don't know if it's a bug or not, but it sure sucks :D
3 ~ we just won't be able to run any specialists in the capital for the rest of the game if we put a GE or GS wonder there.
4 ~ techinically, there should be one-per-team ~ i did custom continents. so we should all be relatively isolated.

3 ~ we just won't be able to run any specialists in the capital for the rest of the game if we put a GE or GS wonder there.
For the rest of the game? Why? If we only need two Great Engineers, why couldn't we hire merchants after they pop?

4 ~ techinically, there should be one-per-team ~ i did custom continents. so we should all be relatively isolated.
Uhm ... I think that was my point. ;) 6 continents + 6 civs = isolated start

Uhm ... I think that was my point. ;) 6 continents + 6 civs = isolated start
Not necesarily, Conroe..... 6 continents + 6 civs has the annoying tendency of cramping 2 civs in one continent leaving another unocuppied.... We're clearly not cramped, but 2 AI can be.

#*%)@# BUG. No log checking for me I guess. :(

There is a half-decent inland city that will grab the oasis, floodplains and cattle, but the fur city might be of better immediate use.

2 questions before playing ( clear anwsers, please ;) )

- Mids city can't hire merchants later ? IMHO that is :smoke: ... we only need 2 GE for corps and hopefully we'll get the second from Fusion

- 3rd city..... I know that the land is somewhat subpar , but we need to play well our cards exactly because of that and I sense that we need to choose wisely the place to put the settler. I'm quite reluctant to settle the Cow-fur spot now and would prefer the marble oasis cooper spot ( swap it with NYC if needed ) for the prod, but I would like a team consensus ( or at least a qualified majority ) about this one.

any of the wonder city's CAN hire merchants ~ obviously, we don't want to until AFTER we get our needed GEs/GSs. though, as oz pointed out, that GE is so far down the line, I don't want to risk losing the corporation to another civ.

for production, i think maybe that southern city should be the one we settle, though i'm not sure of the spot. The more i think on it, the more i like settling ON the oasis. we have to share some tiles but we get access to water and desert FPs, as well as a couple grass hills, plains hills and the marble & copper. might be nice ~

edit: oh, *qualified* majority ~ that leaves me out ;)

lurker's comment:
Well, at least this map has more food than the Boreal map we played in PH-08  . Good luck, guys !

I STILL have nightmares about that map. [shudder]

Lurking

PH08 did have the rare distinction of ending in victory.

No cottages and no specialists (coz you need to get non-merchant GPs from wonders) on monarch. I'd be truly impressed (and amazed) if this game ended in victory.

Played 15 turns and it was a quiet turnset ( besides the wandering barb archer south of wash

Only intersting thing was this:
Spoiler :

I know that it may not be consensual, but ,taking in account that we can't settle in oasis ( shame on you pholk :p ), I think that it was the best spot taking both cooper and marble and with the food to feed both

Researched wheel and pottery and started Maths... library in capitol and whipped monument in NY for getting the cooper

all ~ my wireless router ist kaput ~ my son busted it right out of the USB port :(

won't be online until later today for longer -- will post more then

Also played 15 quiet turns.

T3 1700BC - Washington completes its Library, begins the Pyramids

T6 1625BC - Boston completes its Monument, so I switch it to military production and switch New York to a Worker

T11 1500BC - Boston completes a Warrior, I also switch it to a Worker

The worker can now mine and connect the copper.

Mathematics is due in 9, I suggest we chop the grassland hill by Washington after its done.

After New York and Boston complete their workers, we should have enough for a while and can probably afford to settle another city.

hey now all ~ i'm back, though not on my own computer for now. I still need to get another router, but am not sure i'll be going for a plug-in version this time round.

anyway, i'll try to take a look at the game today, but we look okay. After Maths, we need Currency, i think, no? it'd be nice if we could get time that w/the Pyramids to run some +3 beaker merchants; that'll help our economy.

also, have we explored our whole island??

Roster
pholkhero >> on deck
ozbenno
pawelo
r_rolo
Kodii >> just played
Conroe >> UP NOW

Well, we need 2 GS, so the Great Library is needed, so Aesthetics and Lieterature after Currency. We also need the GA from Music, so Music after Litertature.

We should chop out the Pyramids and make sure that we get the GE from here before our first GM. In fact we should build aqueduct/Hanging Gardens after Pyramids.

Nothing real exciting to report. Followed the plan, as outlined above ... I :whipped: the Worker in New York for 1 pop. I dumped the overflow into a Barracks. I almost went with a Granary, but decided on the Barracks since this does not appear to be an always peace game, after all.

After the Barracks completed, NY resumed work on the Warrior that was left in the build queue. Since I can't look at the in-game log, I missed the Barracks completion message. I queued up an axe before I saved.

Started a Granary in Boston after the city completed its Worker. Got the copper connected up and chopped a forest in Washington. The Pyramids are due in 3 turns.

Completed Mathematics and started Currency. But, I would suggest that Currency be put on hold for Sailing. Lighthouses would help our research, plus it would enable river resource sharing.

Oracle built in 1125BC in some distant land. Confucianism was NOT founded, though. They take Metal Casting, maybe? :dunno:

A bit of bad luck would keep the new Workers employed ...

I also whacked that barb Archer that had been wandering around south of Washington.
