The Idea

In September, I started a Spore NESLife. But, my computer broke for a month and so that stopped.

This time, we're going straight on to land, because that would be easiest. As such, there will be some stylistic changes, which will all be revealed below.

There may be a Sporecast, as well as some adventures.

Rules

Anyone can create 1 new species per turn. No more than 1 species per person per update. (Unless I say so)

A: Brand New Species

You can start from scratch with an entirely new species, in which case you get 3 T1 parts to start with. Brand new species will be simple creatures, like rodents or small animals.

These new species will be more and more primitive compared to the most evolved species. I'd actively discourage it at later stages.

The other, preferred, option:

B: Evolve a Species

This is where things depart a bit. Instead of genes, there are parts, which come in four Tiers

Your options here are (choose up to 3) to
  • Add a Tier 1 part
  • Improve a part by one tier
  • Decrease a part by one tier
  • Replace one T1 part with another in the same category
  • Replicate a part (can be done with anything except mouths - there is no stat change in this instance)
  • Remove a part completely.

Spoiler Parts List :
Parts come in 7 flavours.
Mouths (Mouths are essential. Only one mouth is allowed on a creature.)

Joining
This NES does not require any commitment on your part. To join, you can just post a new species/evolution thing. Its up to you if you ever come back to see how it does.

New Species Template:
[reminder: this will be a very primitive species compared to stuff that already exists, you need to be very inventive here!]
(new species name) : (player name)
Parts (you can start with three): [reminder: one of these must be a mouth]
Description: (Behaviour, specific diet, habitat, etc.)

Evolution Template:
(new species name) : (player name)
Evolved from: (old species name)
Parts added/upgraded:
Parts removed/downgraded: [reminder: leave at least a mouth]
Description: (Changes in behaviour, specific diet, habitat, etc.)

Anyone who does have Spore, feel free to create your own creatures.

Stories

Feel free to do 'day in the life' stories and such like. If they are good, I'll make an adventure out of it.

Update list
Update 1

I think that covers everything.

It is now safe to post.

False Bird : Vertinari118
Evolved from: Amphibidon
Parts added/upgraded: Bird of Prey Mouth T1, Misc. Eyes T2
Parts removed/downgraded: Amphibian Mouth T1,
Description:

Behaviour

The closest thing this world has to birds at the moment but they are still amphibians and therefore need to live near water. They live in pairs that mate for life and are fiercely territorial. Several pairs may band together to drive away a threat to their spawning pools. In short false birds are vicious little beasts that are best left alone.

Diet

If it fits in their mouth or can be cut up so it fits in their mouth and doesn't kill them they'll eat it.

Habitat

The tropical forests

Physical Appearance

They are slightly larger than their Amphibidon ancestors with a flatter, broader tail that resembles a bird's tail somewhat. They have scattered feathers across their body but mostly have plain skin. They are mostly brown with streaks of green.

Are we not all going to radiate from that one creation?

You don't have to. I'd prefer if you do.

I will, doesnt make sense otherwise.. :p sorry Vert!

Did not think of that. I will edit my entry to be an evolution of the Amphibidon

I am hereby expressing interest, though I'm not too cool about the singing and dancing :) I can understand that you need to keep this tied to Spore to do sporecasts and stuff...

I wonder if you could allow 'custom' parts in the stats, which are displayed graphically by having wierd combinations of ordinary parts, you know like having mouths inside each other and so on? I seem to remember doing some funky stuff like that in the editor.

Yes, I'll allow it, but at my discretion. I know what you are talking about, I've done something like that before.

Parts: Bird of Prey Mouth T1, Misc. Eyes T2, Amphibian Feet T1 (Thin Legs)
Description: Here we see that the mouth has chitinised and created a beak. Intially used to help break out of the egg, and was lost, the creature now keeps this beak to feed with.

Armailliaia : squid1111
Evolved from: Reptillido
Parts added/upgraded: RCM Mouth, Reptilian Feet (both now T2), Creepy Feet T1 (thin legs) (now has 4 legs)
Parts removed/downgraded:
Description: The Armailliaia is a reptilian species evolved from the Reptillido, and apparently named by the same scientists. It is one of the first animals on its planet to develop four legs. It is a solitary hunter, and in the case of its prey being exceptionally well-defended it jumps on top of them from trees, which it climbs using its the claws on its front legs.

Raptor : Vertinari118
Evolved from: False Bird
Parts added/upgraded: Bird feet (bird legs) T1 (please play down the duckiness of T1 bird feet as much as possible), Wings T1
Parts removed/downgraded: Amphibian feet T1
Description: The addition of flying has caused them to move up into trees to nest. They are now even more vicious than False Birds as they can attack from the air. They are now covered with feathers and are dark brown in colour with the belly and neck lighter than the back. Their tail is now almost identical to a Earth bird's tail.

Spoiler :

I was wondering if you could make the eyes of the Raptor look more like the eyes of a real-life raptor, such as the hawk included above. I have no idea if this is possible but I would appreciate it if you could at least make them less prevalent and exposed and a little more realistic. Those who have Spore don't complain that I am being too fussy or pedantic as this is a simple request to make the raptor look more like a real raptor before I start to mess it around big time.

poisillido: cindle
Evolved from: Reptillido
Parts added/upgraded: T2 poison spitters, T2 misc. eyes
Parts removed/downgraded:T1 misc eyes
Description: made for a more sedentary lifestyle, the poisillido has
decided to settle down and feast the advantages of dual poison spitters.
And what good would they do without better eyes to aim?
