I'm giving another try at 'Can't we all just get along?'

I'm going for a game where I not only do not declare war but also produce no military units. So far all I've done is upgrade my starting Warrior and I'm wondering if even doing that might be a mistake. If this doesn't work I will also try it on a game where the AI players also do not declare war (like a Duel Archipelago).

Good luck with that. I played a game where no war was declared at all (Duel Pangaea with one other civ and no CS, diplo victory thanks to the extra vote from building the UN) and "Can't we all just get along?" still didn't trigger.

Did you also build any troops, or did you just stick with your starting Warrior?

What I wonder is that since many have stated all the ways they tried it and it did not record. No one has claimed it work, why would you think you will get it to work? I mean it has to be one of the easiest, if it worked and after months, no one has done it?

That may be a clue.

1) I can't claim that I've read every post describing every single achievement, so I can't be sure that every possible permutation I can think of has been tried.
2) Since there is at least 1 unverifiable account of 'Catfight' in this thread being earned, it is possible that maybe others can be unlocked even if it is in a non-obvious and apparently random fashion.
3) Nothing better to do except give up playing Civ V entirely and move on to another game. Unless they fix multi-player (unlikely) taking random shots at achievements is the only remaining thing holding my interest with this product.
4) It seems likely that even ones we feel are 100% bugged are still possible, unless I want to believe they just code these achievements and do absolutely 0 testing. Presumably at least 1 person working there has reached every achievement 1 time in at least 1 game. Maybe afterward the code was changed and it doesn't work any more (like with Magellan), but we'll never be 100% certain (only 99.99% certain).

I definitely had a military that game although all they fought were Barbarians. I figured if the AI didn't declare on me it would qualify for the peace achievement but if they did declare it would qualify for the superbrawl achievement. After the win (and no peace achievement) I went back to an earlier save and tried to bully them but could never get them to declare on me; I probably should have deleted all my military before hassling them but I didn't think of it.

Yes, except for the fact that the largest quantities are attached to the most boring ones, and ones that the game model encourages you to do little of. Buying tiles, chopping trees, and building roads are all too costly to do in a regular game (in terms of both in-game gold and opportunity costs). It might take a player a year or more to get these playing the game as they normally would. A better set of long-term goals are things you don't mind racking up because they are actually fun to accomplish, such as founding your 1,000th city, killing your 1,000th enemy unit, to earning your 1,000th Social Policy, etc.

Agree with you there, to a certain extent. But, I think it is sort of the point that for a "normal"(?) player it will take year(s) to get some of these. Second, things are dependent on playstyle, but certainyl everyone builds roads. I didn't even pay mind to the Appian Way until I got notice that I'm close to unlocking it (=so I hadn't spammed roads at all, just had built them the normal way), and now in a few games I'm done with it. Sort of same with Land Baron. First I even paid mind as to how many tiles I have bought and already almost halfway thru. And I dont think in normal game buying land is necessarily counterproductive, it depends on approach, I usually buy land heavily. And this is coming from me playing large or huge maps on slowest game speed, mostly monarch and emperor difficulty, so tiles get really expensive...

Like said, depends on a lot on player and playstyle, me being a cultural-based player with emphasis on few big cities with large areas so I buy a lot of land. But, for sure, we could do with more of these sort of achievements I guess, like those you represented as examples.

After a some time we are now seeing the 1000 ones and even the Magel that needs an XML fix showing some percetage. Does it seem rational that what would seem to be easy ones like Cat Fight and Get Along would not register?

I would submit the unverified one is to be ignored. I have no clue if they did it for a reason, but a reasonable concept would be just more sloppy work by the coders. I could of course be all wrong, it is just more logical to think they are broken, than to look for some convoluted requirement.

If one or two players got one of the alledged broken ones to register, I would think it less likely that they found a way, than they figured out how to zap the area in memory like trainers do.

Rememebr we know for a fact that there are coding issues with the achievements as we can see that Lancers are not being recorded and hence the General is not working.

Have fun tilting at windmills, but I will pass. Good hunting.

It may also be assumed that someone got it without realizing how, and it triggered in global achievments. My first 12 did not register until after I played online again, after playing offline. Among the thousands playing, there may be a random number of people who just don't care, who may have triggered the acheivement and no one will ever find out, even the person who triggered it (other than it now has a percentage on the global view).

So you are saying that we should presume that a few dozen that are not online got it, but the thousands that are online did not, right? No I don't that makes sense. There is no reason to presume anyone has gotten the ones we are talking about, that is my point.

Still. There remains the possibility they aren't all bugged but just hard to get. Wouldn't put it past Firaxis to put a couple of complex ones in there, as a matter of fact I'd hope that of them.

I've played, and won, over 100 games. There are tens of thousands of other owners of the game. By sheer volume alone you'd have to figure someone did something and would have been rewarded with one of the achievements with 0% completion.

And yet the point remains valid. There is a possibility that not all are bugged that seem so.

I am not saying anything else. Just that it is possible, however remarkably unlikely.

But of course when we see that some are bugged then when we cant trigger the others we easily classify them as bugged as well.

And for the record I tend to lean towards the ones no one seems to have achieved being bugged, but still, there remains a theoretical possibility they aren't...

Even if volyme/time factors are speaking against the possibility more and more. Even tho most players arent going for the achievements. In my circle of civ-playing friends many have played the series since civ1, and funnily enough at the moment I am the sole ahievement-whore :)

The probability of those achievements that have 0% not being bugged is basically....0. We know the descriptions of them, and thousands of people play this game. It is not realistic to assume that they aren't bugged and just no one has achieved them.

They are clearly bugged.

It's possible they're not bugged but are simply poorly described. I lean toward their being bugged though!

It is confirmed that the modern general one is bugged. It doesn't count lancers. The tomb raider one can only be interpreted so many ways. People have literally tried everything that the achievement can remotely mean and no one has unlocked it. They are bugged.

For Cat Fight, have you tried playing a male leader, and persuading the three ladies to get into a three-way pillow fight? Most the effort seems focused on playing as a female leader and fighting with other female leaders. Maybe you're just meant to watch them mud wrestle, or something.

Can't We All Just Get Along could require zero combat, including against barbarians. How many of those "never war" games also had no barbarians turn on?

Dunno if i "infrige" with any tricky copyright issue for this but i managed to pull the entire Icons library of jpgs for these. If so, moderators should certainly catch me in the act & delete the zip attached if necessary.

I renamed them all (instead of the usual MD5 tag markers) with proper numbers, coding IDs & known Titles.
... it's as complete as i could assemble them.

EDIT(Dec.19th); Now includes all newly added versions (with v1135 patch) & proper ID tags!

I couldn't find any solid reference for the Khan's set (6 in total) nor the newest two which seems to be for WIN_BABYLON (By the Waters of Babylon) and WIN_MONGOL (The Golden Horde). Aside from the mystery series of 137_?'s (1 to 12)... it's as complete as i could assemble them.

Below is the XML for the 8 complete new achievements; you can pull the URLs from the iconClosed elements.

Thanks, MouseyPounds, but this is not exactly what i 'need' to call it valid or official.

If you look at your achievements_debug.log file in the ..\MyGames\.. folder for Logs (if activated by the settings ini toggle, btw) the list keeps track of your results with lines such as this;
[21116.825] DBG: 32 (L): ACHIEVEMENT_MAPSIZE_HUGE (Ruler of the Twelve Colonies ) = Locked
Which uses the following Icon...

While the Icons are picked off the ../public/images/apps/8930/.. server slot & given simple *MD5-ID*.jpg as file names.

As you could see in the above zip, i merged both data sources to create the entire known set.

What i (will) need is the extra but new 20 slots; #, Code-ID, Names to refer & match with the provided Icons.

I even read somewhere that two more (Leaders) showed up online in a mysterious page... but i can't find the URL for it.

Anyhow, this is all going to be activated once the next patch is distributed. Bringing the list to a revealed total of 140 instead of the current 120. I'll come back to insert them in the zip when i update the game as everyone else will.
