Since my previous idea for an SG sucked, with this one I'm going to start my own SG series. :D

Rules

Napoleon is pretty upset with all the people who mock his physical defects - specifically, he's not very tall. He decided to overcome his weaknesses by proving that he is better than some mr "I have four times more feet than I have toes on them". Because small is pretty, he will taunt them by beating them turning his weakness into a strength.

Settings:
Map: Fractal (a Pangaea-shaped map)
Leader: Napoleon of France (duh)
Size: Standard
Speed: Normal
Level: Monarch
Variants:
-Napoleon can have only 6 cities at any time. No more. Everything else goes razed.
-AIs can win as they please. However, Napoleon prefers to prove:
1: His military supremacy over his colleagues by killing everyone;
2: His wisdom by sending a ship sail against the winds and currents by building few distinct parts and firing a big woohoo that will surely score him an appearance in "Brainiac" or "MythBusters" on how he did a rocket to Alpha Centauri out of a musket or something like this;
3: Or, he can prove that his medicine is truly the best for preventing becoming old so his people will reach 2050 AD before they'll die.

I hope that we won't come SHORT on abilities to do some harm to our neighbors!

Roster:
1: Winth
2: mystyfly
3: pigswill
4: Ralph_Jackson
5: Sweetacshon.

I'd like to join.
But I don't really understand the second point Nappy likes to prove: Do you mean he'd like to win a space race (lots of words I don't understand...)
That means you want to win by conquest, time or SS. Fine :D

I'd like to join as well. Fairly comfortable on monarch. I guess that while we're limited to six cities they don't have to be the same six cities throughout the game.

As we can't raze our cities on our own, we'll have to let it be captured, which can prove quite difficult. I'd prefer settling 4-5 cities very agressively in good spots and keep the last for a capital site. We could also rush one neighbour which would leave us with enought space for 4 great cities (hopefully - 4 to settle + 2 caps :p).

The key will be to specialise heavily. Something like 2 production cities and the rest science.
Like in a OCC, I think SE will be better than CE.
We can try to control our neighbours by being in defensive wars meaning waiting for their stacks to suicide against our cities. Great Wall comes to mind (GGs are awesome). Have something like 2 AIs that no-one likes and regularly declare, raze one small city and keep him busy while getting diplo+ with our mates for shared war.

Are we allowed to have vassals? This would make conquest easier and domination possible.

In the spirit of this SG, I'd say it's only possible to have vassals that have less than 6 cities; they are "smaller" than the little corporal. ;) Obviously, if they get bigger, you'd have to trim them down a bit.

Certainly looks like an interesting idea... and in fact, I'm almost tempted to pick it up, but I'm afraid monarch is too much for me. I suck.

We could gift a city, wait for our culture to disappear, then raze it!

mystyfly - Yes. Napoleon will be satisfied only by Conquest, Space Race, or Time (Conquest FTW, of course!).
pigswill - I'd rather like to have us stick with our cities, unless we have some really bad land day.

Vassals... I didn't tick off the button, so you will have to decide.

Pigswill, mystyfly - you're both in!
Akuma-sama - you are free to play as long as you can win without cheesy struggling on Prince.

@ Winth,

Always keen on restricted SG's so count me in if you need to fill the roster

@ Akuma

, but I'm afraid monarch is too much for me. I suck.

Well an SG is a great "de-suckage" opportunity. Just lay out your plans, get feedback from the team and dont be afraid to ask why players did X and you will be fine at Monarch in an SG.

Ralph

Ralph_Jackson - there you go.
I will post the save soon, maybe before we fill the fifth spot, even.

The ultimate little big man. Count me in also, if there's still a spot.

Any chance of playing at epic speed? I'm beginning to get used to it and it makes warfare easier for us, however its not a huge issue if we play normal speed.

pigswill - um, sounds like not. Nuh-uh. I set it to Normal and this map has an interesting shape! (I managed to make it a Pangaea like map).

Sweetashcson - the roster is filled! Thanks.
I will post the save tomorrow.

When do you intend to start the game, Winth?

Anyway, I'll be OOP 21 - 25 March.

I -was- going to play out those 30 starting initial turns a day ago, realli! But a majestik móóse interrupted me.

Tomorrow I -will- post the save. I promise!

There we go.

I settled in place. There are few hills, silks, wheat and a cow. Food poor capital. Research went into Animal Husbandry, I start with a Worker - good starting techs to push growth we have.
We popped a map of a southern iceball with our Warrior.

Some furs and deers, everything covered in tundra. I doubt we will find much of use out of them given our variant.

Our borders pop, and we discover a Scout hiding in a goody hut, influenced by our blue border. I sent him to work as well.

Turn 6 - we make contact with another civilization!

It's just turn 6. I supposed that Incans are awfully close - and they do.

A map of our surroundings and the save.

The roster:

Winth - Just played
Mystyfly - skipped
pigswill - UP NOW
Ralph_Jackson - on deck
Sweetachson.

Hurrah, we've started.

Could we have a roster and indication of turns/set?

With a restricted number of cities one of the things we'll need to consider is getting as many different resources in our borders as possible so maybe we shouldn't be looking at packing our cities too tightly.

Hopefully we'll have copper not too far away because I think that the sooner we eliminate HC the better.

Surely, but I don't know if Cuzco will be that much of a spot - it isn't that close to us as you may think.
Roster I put in the post above. I think we will follow the pattern of my 25 turns, then 20 (pigswill), then 15 from Ralph and 10 for the rest of the game.

Desert one side, tundra the other. Napoleon wouldn't even want 6 cities here! Hopefully HC is hiding something nice over there.

I'm away until probably Tuesday, so skip me, pls.

I think that Cuzco would be a nice addition to our empire. Somehow, capitals of industrious civs seem to have either stone or marble in the BFC and more ralrely copper or horse. This will let us build a wonder or three. HC is one of the AIs that develope to a point where it is very hard to match them.

Lurker:

That dry spell of desert to the west is terrible. I was trying to mentally produce a dotmap but to no luck.

Good production city to the northeast of the rice. 2 North/NE of the deer is also a great production site. Can also establish a great costal site in between the two fish southeast of paris.

Good luck.
