Hello.

I just joined the forums today as I am now finding I am hooked to the recently released Civ 5. I have played many other strat games like Hearts of Iron, Victoria and Europa Uinverallis but always avoided Civ games for whatever reason. After seeing some gameplay vids I decided I had to try Civ 5.

WOW! What an awesome game. The fun factor is through the roof.

My question is what are some good suggestions for a nice long game (how many other civs, city states, time frame, continent). My first game is with Rome against 5 other civs on standard time. Tons of fun and I am going for the world domination victory. My only complaint is it seems the early eras went by so quick and I think I will win the game before I get to the modern era :(

Also what is a good type of victory to go for that doesnt require me to conquer everything in sight? After my Roman campaign I think I need to give warmongering a break. It seems most strat games have trained me to crush and conquer everything I see. Civ 5 seems to allow you to win in other ways.

Thanks again for your time! :)

Welcome to forums!
For a long game, larger map sizes with more civs and citystates would prbably help, slower gamespeed might help as well.
Any of the other three victories (culture, science, and diplomatic) are available, science and diplomatic ought to be long as they can't be won until modern.

i started a game with Germany on Epic and nothing but timed, domination or space victory. this i think will ensure i see the modern age, unless someone goes on a conquering spree! :)
