Civ V Light
Since the mobile game is in the works, why not have a light version of CIV V that can be played on systems not strong enough to play the current version. I would really like to play CIV V on my laptop which is about 4 years old an my fav computer ever!!

The game technically does have a "light" mode with the Strategic Map.

Nice idea - it'd be cool to be able to play CiV whilst stuck with my netbook.
That said, if the mobile version runs on Android, then I guess running Android-x86 in a virtual machine or dual booting would enable it to be played on a pc. Might have to try that... |

Civ V runs on my dualcore notebook with an intel graphics card, which supports DX11.
I bought mine 2008, which is 3 years ago. So if you happen to have an as limited notebook as I do, you shouldn't have a problem running it. I had to delete the graphic driver and install it anew from intel's homepage though. Look in the technical forum. There you might find an answer. |

It's probably a good thing that it stubbornly refuses to run on my netbook (single core Intel Atom, integrated graphics, etc) as having CiV on my work computer is unlikely to improve productivity
![]() It runs fine on my gaming rig, which is probably where it should stay... but any excuse to play about with virtualbox / multiboot more OSs... |

The graphics shouldn't be so fluffed up. I should be able to play it on my lap top, not just my desktop.

They already have Civ V Light -- they call it "Civilization IV".
I certainly agree... I can barely play it on my desktop. There's no reason for this game to be such a performance dog. |

Civ 5 runs just fine on my laptop. The gfx are somewhat shabby in comparison to what I've seen on LP's by various ppl, but that does not bother me too much.
