Do you plan to keep moding perpetually?

KingArthur... Yes, it is because we have spent many years learning the various aspects to Modding this game as well as the interesting possibilities that can be made from it.

You know me... here is yet another Favorite Poem:

"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat these two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son"!
Rudyard Kipling

I have yet to actually finish one of my mods, but I have so many ideas.
I refuse to stop modding until all ideas are turned into mod form and done!

Which is never, by the way.

If you can stay up all night to make a bugfix
And post the next day that you're "moving along",
Or work for months to create a tech tree
That your first playtester says is "all wrong";

Or you've worked for weeks on a cool animation,
Only to find that your palette is screwed,
And you've lost all touch with your friends and relations,
Cause you're watching to see how your roads are reviewed;

And your room is a war zone, your desk is a mess,
(and you're not all that lovely yourself, you'd confess...)
You've filled hundreds of pages with scribbles and lines,
Every one an idea - and a piece of your time;

And your hard drive is creaking, the fan is rebelling,
You'll get to that soon - but the work's too compelling:
You've got icons to make! You've got entries to do!
The task's sitting there, and it's staring at you.

And your butt's now a functional part of your chair,
And you're losing your teeth and a lot of your hair,
And your mouse has a permanent groove in the plastic,
Your eyes are all dry and your waist is elastic;

And the idiots! out in the forums don't know
that you've sweated and slaved and you've tweaked it just so;
That the civilopedia entries are true -
And it's balanced and perfect - nope, only you.

And if you'll come back and do it again,
And take all the idiot posts like a man,
And still post your creations like so much cannon fodder,
Well then, face it buddy - you're a Civ modder!

@Balthazar :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:
Amazing! And how true! I'd like to quote this in my sig, but it would be a bit too long ;)

EDIT: I've found a way to quote your Ode in my Sig ;)

My game is different/expanded every time I play it, I find it amazing that after 10 years I still can get a choice of new stuff to choose from every month.

Plus, everyone here seems to be intelligent and informative.

I second that :) This community of Civ3 Modders has an important part in the fact that I'm still modding. We are a cool family :D And this very simple game, with very simple mechanics, is still fun to play and easy and fun to mod. I'm still learning things from other modders, either about playing the game itself, modifying the rules to get cool effects, or building units and other graphics for the game.

Thank you everyone who complimented the poem. You have no taste.

Did this thread just turn into a rap battle? :cooool:

:lol: Bring it on, byotch.....

I've found a way to quote your Ode in my Sig ;)

Thank you, that's flattering. And that's Balthasar with an "s".

I "third" the comments about the community by Pounder and others. The negative tone of some of the poem was only for comic effect. Most of the folks here will give you intelligent feedback, not drivel. Most folks here are nice, very nice. And I've made some real friends here, which is more than you can say about most websites outside of 'facebook' or 'Young women looking for Older Men'.

It's appropriate that a torch represents this site, because we are cumulatively keeping that torch lit here. It stands beside a welcoming door, and inside is all of the thought, friendship, artistry, novelty and adventure that anyone could ask for...

Sorry BalthaSar :) Another very nice sample of your poetry by the end of this post of yours Sir Balt... :hatsoff:

And I thought I didn't need to read this thread! "I don't know nottin'" is my mantra but I know what I like. Don't worry about Moff, at worst he will repent w/Civ3 v2.0. The rest of you "Keep the faith,baby!"
